• 34. What is trauma anyway?
    2024/11/09

What is trauma? Is it an event, or a series of events? Does it include neglect, or abuse? How can 2 children experience the same event, and have very different responses, both short- and long-term about that same event?

In this episode, we'll discuss research, and my perspective on trauma. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

    2024/10/26

So many times, I'd feel frustrated, annoyed, even angry - but I'd put on a happy face for my son and pretend that all was well. He saw right through me every time. Somehow he knew how I was feeling, even when I thought I was doing such a good job of faking it.

In this episode, we'll discuss the intuitive power of kids, and why it fades over time.

  • 31. My child hates me
    2024/10/19

Many parents go through the "I hate you" phase. When raising a child with attachment difficulties, this can be tenfold. I often hear from adoptive & foster parents words like "I hate you," "you're not my mother," "just take me back to foster care/adoption agency," or "I want a new family." Although we may develop thick skin, it's not easy.

In this episode, let's discuss the reason behind the words, the walls we build as parents, and some strategies to build a connection, no matter what your child says.
