The process letting go of consciousness and the act of releasing control into a state of temporary loss of consciousness; also known as sleeping, is as much of a fundamental part of life as it is to be awake.
Repair and growth of the body, resetting of the clock, consolidation of memory, decluttering of information, slowing down on digestive processes, cooling down of the brain are just some very important tasks that go on when we are sleeping.
Then, there's this beautiful and enigmatic phenomena, when our subconscious mind awakens and conjures these sometimes vivid, sometimes pleasant, sometimes scary visualizations that we call dreams or nightmares. A disharmony of communication between the mind and body can cause strange events such as involuntary muscle spasms and even paralysis.
Come and join Hannah and Samir as they try to make sense of it all using some of their own personal experiences.
