On today’s podcast, I have the extreme pleasure of talking to one of my favorite people, Nicole Spain White. She is a woman who wears many hats: she is a wife, mother, sister, friend, capacity coach, my co-pastor, caregiver, and passionate teacher of Christ's word.
In honor of National Caregiver's Day, which is celebrated on the 3rd Friday in February, Pastor Nicole and I had a candid discussion about the challenges, lessons, mistakes, and joys she has experienced as a caretaker for her now 25-year-old daughter, who she calls her greatest teacher, and both her parents before their deaths. What I learned from our conversation is that caregiving is an act of love and service, caregivers will make mistakes and it is important to ask for help and engage in healthy self-care practices.
If you know someone who is among the 53 million unpaid caregivers in the United States, will you commit to seeking out ways in which you can help those who are selfishly loving others who aren't able to fully care for themselves? Because caregivers need care too!
