  • Episode 141: The Murder of Jason Corbett // Part 2
    2025/06/20

Jason Corbett, an Irish businessman living in North Carolina, was brutally murdered on August 2, 2015, by his wife, Molly Martens, and her father, retired FBI agent Tom Martens. He was beaten to death in his bedroom with a baseball bat and a concrete brick. Molly and Tom claimed they acted in self-defense, alleging Jason was abusive. However, prosecutors argued the killing was motivated by a custody dispute over Jason’s two children, whom he had with his late first wife.

In 2017, both were convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20–25 years in prison. The convictions were later overturned, and in 2023, they accepted a plea deal for voluntary manslaughter. After serving around four years, they were released in June 2024. The case remains highly controversial, with divided public opinion over whether it was an act of protection or premeditated murder.

  • Episode 139: Botched Executions // Part 2
    2025/06/06

    Send us a text

Join us this week as Lindsay lays our the grisly details on what can happen when a death penalty execution goes wrong. Part 2 is finally here and it was worth the wait! Part 2 brings us to more modern times as Lindsay breaks down the issues in the firing squad, the gas chamber, the electric chair, and lethal injection.

Botched executions refer to instances where the process of carrying out a death penalty is flawed, leading to prolonged suffering, physical complications, or failure to follow protocols. These incidents can occur across various methods of execution, including lethal injection, electrocution, gas chambers, firing squads, and hanging. Common causes include improper drug administration, equipment malfunction, or human error. Lethal injection, the most commonly used method in the U.S., has faced significant scrutiny for its risk of painful complications due to drug shortages and improper training. Botched executions have sparked ethical debates, raising concerns about the cruelty and reliability of capital punishment, and have fueled broader calls for reform or abolition of the death penalty in many regions.
