    Coach Gutting comes to SUU from Casper College where he was the Head Coach the past 4 years. His career Head Coaching record is 83-35. His team finished First in the Region IX North in 2022-23 with a 24-8 record. As a Head Coach, Gutting sent 14 players move on to play Division I programs. In 2020, he was selected by TopConnect Leaders as one of the top Junior College coaches in the country. Participating in the 2 day symposium working with other great young coaches across the country.


    Before Casper, Gutting was an Assistant Coach at New Mexico Junior College. The program had a record of 106-54 during his time there while sending 27 players to Division I programs in a 5 year span. During his time in Junior College, Gutting has coached 22 All-Conference players including 5 All-Americans, and two current NBA Players.


    Gutting was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. He comes from a lineage of coaching with his father Steve, who coached for over 35 + years between college and high school. He has a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies, and a Master’s in Sports Administration – Secondary Education.
