Welcome to Shaped with Jobe Watson. In this sit-down chat, we delve into the life of former Essendon Football Club captain and AFL star, Jobe Watson. From leading one of the most iconic teams in Australian Rules Football to navigating challenges off the field, Jobe shares the life lessons and personal growth that shaped his journey.
Jobe Watson had a celebrated career for the Essendon Football Club. He is the son of Essendon legend Tim Watson and carried on the family legacy. Watson made his AFL debut in 2003, but it wasn’t for a few years that he broke through and became an elite running footballer known for his exceptional football IQ, leadership, and ability to win clearances.
He won the Brownlow Medal in 2012 as the league's best and fairest player, although the honour was later stripped due to Essendon's controversial supplements saga.
During his career, Watson was a three-time Crichton Medal winner (Essendon's best and fairest award) and captained the club from 2010 to 2015.
Jobe opens up about his childhood, fatherhood, mental health during the Essendon supplements saga, the impact of his sabbatical year in New York City, and why he chose to come back after the entire club's one-year ban from the AFL.
