    Saints in the South classic!
This week we discuss how scriptures that are specifically given to individuals at the time, can be applied to our lives and our circumstances. For example, section 81 was originally given to Jesse Gause. However, he later left the church and this revelation, when published substituted Frederick G. Williams name for Jesse Gause's name.
We discuss the importance of standing in the office in which you have been called and doing it faithfully. Sometimes that is a calling in church, a calling in life, or a situation you are placed in.
Where much is given, much is required. It is true, those who have been given more or know more should be expected to do more.
Finally, we discuss who is supposed to care for those that stand in need. Who has claim upon the church or the Lord's storehouse? Who has the responsibility to watch over the down trodden?
Join us this week as we continue to apply the scriptures to our personal lives.

Less than two years after the Church of Jesus Christ was restored, it had more than 2,000 members and was growing quickly. The Lord instructs Joseph to organize the "United Firm"; a group that would focus advancing the cause of the Lord in the following areas: the publication of church revelations, the purchase of land to gather on, and the care for the poor. But even in such administrative matters, the Lord focused on the things of eternity.

"Great Shall Be Their Reward and Eternal Shall Be Their Glory"
The Vision, probably the most glorious and most important revelation that sets the church apart from other Christian religions since the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. The vision was given in the midst of other brethren to Sidney Rigdon and Joseph Smith. Join us this week as we discuss how "The Vision" was received among members of the church, non members of the church, and those outside of the church. It was an entirely new and greater understanding of what Heaven and Hell are. We find out what the celestial, terrestrial, and telestial kingdoms are, and what is required to be a candidate for outer darkness.

How Should we handle criticism of the Church?
Joseph Smith faced critics all of his life. He was used to it from the non believers, but it must have been extra difficult when facing criticism from within the church and former members. This week we discuss the falling away of Ezra Booth and his criticism of the prophet Joseph Smith. We also talk about Newel K. Whitney, the 2nd bishop of the church called. He had a few more instructions and direction given to him than did Edward Partridge. Finally, we talk about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Join us this week as we continue to apply the principles we learn to from our study of come follow me to our personal lives.

How important is the role of parents in the Lord's kingdom?
Join us as we discuss this week's Come Follow Me lesson. The elders held a special meeting to discuss publishing the book of commandments, now known as the doctrine and covenants. It was agreed upon that they needed to be published but needed a preface. Many of the brethren were concerned with the inadequacies of Joseph's vocabulary and grammar. The Lord said for them to pick out the weakest revelation and take the wisest among them and if they could write something that was better, then they could use it but if not, they would need to testify of all their truthfulness. Once it was done, all the elders agreed that it could not be done and Joseph's revelations were indeed from The Lord and true.

We go on to discuss the significance that The Lord puts on parenting. Marcus points out that if parents in Zion do not teach their children the gospel, the "sin" and not the "sins" are upon the heads of the parents.

    Saints in the South CLASSIC!
Join us this week as we discuss this weeks lesson on the commandment to forgive others and the struggles we face to have a willing heart and mind. It's not always easy to drop what we are doing and to be on The Lord's errand. Learning how to do that as often as possible will draw us closer to God.
William McLellin, had questions that only The Lord was aware of. The prophet Joseph Smith answered those questions in section 66. What did William McLellin do with those answers and how did it effect his faithfulness. What do we do with the answers that we receive from The Lord?

  • Men's Mental Health and the Gospel: Stronger Together!
    2025/06/15

    Send us a text

What does the month of June mean to you?..
In this powerful and timely episode of Saints in the South, we open up a conversation that too often remains in the shadows: men’s mental health. As June marks Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we confront the stigma surrounding emotional vulnerability and the pressure many men feel to “tough it out” in silence. With compassion and candor, we talk about the real struggles—including depression, anxiety, and the sobering suicide rates among men—and why seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but of strength.
We also explore how gospel principles and Church resources can provide healing, hope, and resilience. From the eternal truths that affirm our divine worth, to practical programs offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we highlight how faith and mental health can—and must—work together. Whether you’re struggling yourself, supporting someone who is, or just want to be part of a healthier, more Christlike culture, this episode is for you. Let’s break the silence and build stronger, more spiritually grounded men—together.

    Saints in the South CLASSIC!
This week we discuss the travels of some of the saints travels from Independence, Missouri back to Kirtland, Ohio and other areas. The Elders that had been set apart to teach were not doing much preaching. They were focused on other things such as getting back as well as being fearful of others if they were to preach the word of The Lord from the newly founded Church of Jesus Christ. The Lord rebuked them in that they were to repent and teach the gospel.
He tells them that it did not matter what way they traveled as long as they fulfilled their mission along the way to preach the Gospel.

Join us as we share some personal experiences and how we have likened the scriptures unto ourselves.
