  • OMEGA, The Art Of Timekeeping
    2024/05/01
Omega, the official timekeeper of the Olympics since 1932, reveals in an exclusive podcast produced by Luxury Tribune the immense technological and sporting challenges behind mastering time and distance measurements. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, Alain Zobrist, CEO of OMEGA Timing, as well as coaches Lance Brauman and Louis Heyer, provide insights.

There is no question that timekeeping is one of the key components to the excitement of athletics competition. Without the ability to measure times and distances that separate the winner from the runners-up, competition as we know it would be possible. Without timing there would be no world or Olympic Games records.

As Paris 2024 approaches, athletes have now entered the final phases of their preparation. A victory at the Olympic Games surpasses any other ambition, and at this level, it is determined by millimeters or thousandths of a second. In this field, OMEGA, the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, has been the driving force behind all technological advancements for nearly a century.

Each sport requires specific technology that must be able to deploy in real-time, on every athlete, in every event, in every stadium or body of water across the national territory where the games take place.

To understand what lies behind timing, listen to the OMEGA podcast - The Art of Timekeeping
