In this very special episode I have the immense pleasure of being joined by Dan Holmi of the Locked On Capitals podcast.

We go over the details of the past week with Our Capitals going 2-1 at the beginning of their Western road trip. Listen as Dan and I go back and forth over sever important point relative to both the Caps' recent play as well as some goings-on in the NHL itself. A MUST listen for serioius Caps fans!

As this week's episode is dedicaged to the memory of the great Pete Medhurst, we reserve our final segment to pay tribute to his life and career. Well wishes are included from some of our listeners and I will do my best to sum up his wonderful but tragically short life.

Anna and I discuss the three games/three wins for the Caps this past week. As it was pretty low-event hockey played by them to perfection, this episode will fly by. But of course not without a timely discussion of how to cope during a not-so-dry January. Spoiler alert---there will be complaints about snow. Also the Mermaid has a homework assignment--regarding hew newfound favorite drink.

Four games to cover......four games that were, at times, difficult to endure given what we Caps fans have gotten used to. But as they say they road is long and the season is a marathon and not a sprint, Anna and I break down the four games as only we can. We also offer our critique of the team's recent play and what might get them back to.....a more consistent line of results.

However before we begin, we give our attention to the recent tragedy in the Los Angeles area. We both have people there who have been affected at least in some way.And in their case, yes the road is even tougher and longer. Do what you can to make it easier on them by donating to the American Red Cross today.

Also we speak about our beloved Color Commentator, Craig Laughlin and his recent health issues. He has his own road to recovery he must travel. Send him your most positive vibes and be sure to wish him well. Something else that will do his heart good is a donation to The Laughlin Family Foundation to support research for rare cancers.

And to anyone else facing their own challenges early in this New Year....the road may be long, but let this serve as a reminder that you're not alone. We're a community. A family unto our own. There is a way home. If you are a Caps fan you are already here.
