  • Journey Through Lent: From Fasting to Feasting
    2025/04/07

Here we are preparing to enter Holy Week. Journeys are not just about getting from Point A to Point B. We have walked with Jesus and each other and we will be walking still. Today we consider what God showed us in the wilderness, in fears, strength, and relationships as we have been encouraged to shift our focus to allow God to be more fully reflected and as Jesus invites us to move from fasting to feasting.

  • Journey Through Lent: The Blessing of Relationships
    2025/03/31

We are wired for relationship in the very way we are created. Created in the image of God who created in love. Love is a relationship and our very essence is bound up in God's vision. That vision is blurred at best and fractured at worst, due to the effect of what we call "sin." Lent is a time to be open with God about our dissatisfactions and our desire for a deeper life of faith. Join Pastors Carolyn Hetrick and Scott Schul as we continue our journey through the season of Lent and encounter God's desire for us.

Join Pastor Carolyn Hetrick and Pastor Scott Schul of Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA to be still and be met by God who wants to lead us on another path.

  • Journey Through Lent- Still My Fears
    2025/03/17

When this world makes us fearful, we can believe no one else will take care of us, or be led into temptation to demonize others even when it isn't true. We can get caught up in a vicious cycle of fear. Allowing God into our pain, to interrupt our fear cycle can change the direction of our life. Join Pastor Carolyn Hetrick and Pastor Scott Schul of Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA to be still and be met by God who wants to lead us on another path.

  • Unto Us a Child is Born: Prince of Peace
    2024/12/23

We are in the final days of the season of Advent, that has led up to the celebration of Jesus’ birth, a time to focus upon waiting, preparing and hoping, as we recall the historic birth of Jesus, and await the return of Christ in the fullness of time. We can also train our hearts and minds to look for and expect to see Christ entering our world in the here and now in between.
Each week we have focused upon one of the ways that Jesus, born a baby, brings into the world what we truly need. This week we focus upon Jesus as "Prince of Peace."
We can pause and reflect in our own seasons of waiting and hoping the world now, waiting for Jesus the Christ to return to bring heaven fully to earth and waiting to see glimpses of Christ among us now to sustain us. "Unto Us a Child is Born" is a four week series inspired by Isaiah 9:6 and made famous in Handel's "Messiah."
Led by Pastor Carolyn Hetrick and Pastor Scott Schul of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, PA, each week features breath prayer, music and reflection before sending you out with grace.

Today's music: "Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759)
"Messiah" oratorio, HWV 56 (1741) [Edition of the 1752 version I]
Part 1 - chorus: "For unto us a Child is born"
The Choir of King's College, Cambridge
The Brandenburg Consort, Stephen Cleobury (conductor)

" O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," John Carter. This reflective and peaceful setting of the 15th century French melody Veni Emmanuel is beautifully set by John Carter. This was recorded by Laurel Sanders, flute and Cynthia Mills, piano for use by Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA. © 2010 by Beckenhorst Press, Inc., www.beckenhorstpress.com.
