    Alliance of the Trees A Unique Coalition Between the Metal Community and Environmental NGOs to Defend Biodiversity

    An unexpected alliance between extreme music and environmental protection has emerged. The Francis Hallé Association, États Sauvages, Savage Lands, and Semeurs de Forêts are joining forces to launch the Alliance of the Trees— a collaborative movement designed to raise awareness and mobilize the metal community around forest and biodiversity conservation.

    As biodiversity collapses at an accelerating rate across the globe, four French environmental organizations are coming together to found the Alliance of the Trees, an unprecedented collective that merges ecological activism with cultural influence. At their side stands an unexpected yet natural ally the Metal community, renowned for its solidarity, independence, and power to rally behind meaningful causes.

    The alliance brings together Savage Lands, États Sauvages, Semeurs de Forêts, and the Francis Hallé Association for Primary Forests.

    Reconnecting with the Living Through Emotion and Action
    Biodiversity is too often sidelined in environmental priorities. The Alliance of the Trees aims to change this by engaging a vibrant and committed cultural scene the Metal community. Far from being marginal, this movement is one of the most unifying in Europe. It provides fertile ground for launching educational, restoration, and research projects focused on forests.

    The alliance's ambition is to mobilize the Metal community on a large scale through tangible initiatives called Metal Forests — environmental “passion projects” supported by one or more alliance members, selected for their impact, exemplary nature, and mobilizing power.
    Bringing Back Natural Sanctuaries Thanks to Savage Lands and Hellfest

    Thanks to the joint efforts of Savage Lands and Hellfest, new biodiversity areas have been or will soon be created. Sanctuaries are now protected across several regions two hectares in Playa Negra (Costa Rica), three hectares in Reims, another three in Tours, and forty hectares in Vendée, in partnership with the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). These lands are being returned to nature as long-term refuges for biodiversity.

    Heilung and More Join the Army of the Trees
    One slogan, one open license. In response to the collapse of life on Earth, the Army of the Trees introduces a unique approach an open license and slogan available to any band that wants to join the fight for biodiversity.

    Each band is free to adopt the Army’s visual, adapt it to their own aesthetic, and spread the message in their own way. There’s no set amount to contribute — all funds raised go directly to protecting biodiversity. The principle is simple let ideas flow, multiply allies, and amplify the voices of those fighting for what still remains. Heilung has joined the movement, and more bands are expected to follow this year.

    The Birth of Savage Lands' Youth Division
    Led by Soline Violin, a group of eight committed young people has launched the youth division of Savage Lands. This initiative marks a significant expansion of the movement, bringing a new generation of ecological activism to the forefront — full of fresh ideas, energy, and perspectives. A vital source of hope and lasting commitment for the years to come.

    Las Vegas dark rockers The Nocturnal Affair are the brainchild of singer/songwriter Brendan Shane. The band’s crushing and melancholic musical style is an ode to darker alternative music torchbearers like Type O Negative, HIM, David Bowie, Gary Numan, and Nine Inch Nails. They capture a uniquely haunting sound steeped in downtrodden melodies enveloped in the darkness.
    Since releasing their debut single, “Down”, on Earache Records in November of 2021 and completing their debut album (META)MORPHOSIS, which was produced by Grammy-nominated Disturbedbassist, John Moyer, Nocturnal have become a dominant force in the Vegas alternative music scene.

    The band’s latest single “Cross Me Out”, co-written by active-rock songwriting heavyweight Jonny Andrews (Halestorm, Three Days Grace) and co-produced/mixed by Logan Mader (of Machine Head and Once Human) has achieved almost 3million views on YouTube and is currently taking US rock radio by storm.

    Crüzer is not just a band—it’s a cosmic metal assault from the great white north. From Vancouver, Canada, Crüzer’s sound is as unstoppable as an alien invasion force, tearing through the atmosphere with electrifying solos and unforgettable hooks.

    But it’s not just the power of the riffs and the undeniable stage presence that make Crüzer’s music a celebration of the bizarre and otherworldly wonders of the universe. So strap in, crank it to 11, and prepare for an out-of-this-world heavy metal experience.

    On the surface, I Need Thrash is your average Slayer-esque rager about going to a show, moshing, drinking, and partying. But the song actually contains an important message about fighting back against metal stereotypes, mainly the mentality of “killing posers,” which I’ve always hated. I got called a poser when I was younger, it fucking sucked! Who cares what subgenre or microgenre people like? Metal is metal! Leave them alone and let them enjoy things. DON’T BE A DICK!

    The lead vocalist, Eric Willmott, is also a voice actor. He has narrated several audiobooks, appeared in the mobile game Jorney Renewed: Fate Fantasy (as Sun Wukong Prime), and lent his voice to several YouTube animated shows, including Mammal Squad, Tamberlane, Supercell, and Lexie.

    Eric also used to be in a My Little Pony-themed metal band called Equestrian Lord, back when the “brony” phenomenon was at its peak. Ironically, their most popular song on YouTube has nothing to do with My Little Pony, instead being inspired by the animated fantasy film The Thief and the Cobbler.

    Rising Nordic folk star celebrates pagan legacy by honoring connection with the sun.

    For the past 15 years, Faber Horbach has traced our connection with the sun through the music of Sowulo, but his upcoming concept album, NIHT, journeys into darkness. Written while grieving the loss of both his father and stepfather, lead single "Āsteorfan" ("To Die") is a meditation that, while filled with sorrow, finds that death is not a final resting place, but a portal into spiritual awakening.

    The name "Sowulo," meaning "Sun" in Proto-Germanic, reflects the essence of the music. As we circle the sun, we feel the cyclical nature of life: day and night, the four seasons, birth and death, and the eternal dance between decay and renewal.

    Since releasing their debut single, “Down”, on Earache Records in November of 2021 and completing their debut album (META)MORPHOSIS, which was produced by Grammy-nominated Disturbedbassist, John Moyer, Nocturnal have become a dominant force in the Vegas alternative music scene.

    The band’s latest single “Cross Me Out”, co-written by active-rock songwriting heavyweight Jonny Andrews (Halestorm, Three Days Grace) and co-produced/mixed by Logan Mader (of Machine Head and Once Human) has achieved almost 3million views on YouTube and is currently taking US rock radio by storm.
