 I had a good friend once tell me that “done is better than perfect.” Yet, being a Marine used to mean that done WAS perfect. These last 11-years showed me that everything is divine in timing thus perfect even if incomplete. So what does it even mean to be perfect or to reach perfection? Especially if it’s widely agreed that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? To admire a tree, is to observe it in its raw authentic perfection. But to study it closely would have you begin to observe all its imperfections. Nothing is square, symmetrical, or straight. The totality of its imperfections makes the tree in-fact, perfect and beautiful in its own right. We are the sum total of our parents — good, bad, or indifferent. All the perfect and imperfect they are, we are, just more refined. We are perfectly designed for our time and generation, as they were before us. There are no perfect parents, just like there are no perfect kids. Just imperfect people, perfect for one another, at this stage in their development. We’re all here trying to figure it our together — one day at a time. Let’s jump in.
