• #175: Miami NIL and the NCAA Settlement - The Poo Fighters
    2025/06/12

Roman is back! But Scoop is gone this week... so it seems like the show is never going to be back together until Fall! And Roman shares a story about his father informing him while in Italy that they have a famous relative who turned out to be a high level mafia boss. And as we get down to Greentree, we have to apologize for not mentioning the baseball super-regionals once last week, after they turned around a bad start to make a bit of a run.

Then we turn the corner to the biggest story of the week, the NCAA settlement about how players can and will get paid, and how it will affect the Miami Hurricanes. Roman rolls out the suggestion of taking the allocated $20.5 million and allocate it to every sport except for football, because football can raise that kind of money on their own. And as college football continues to evolve we wonder if we'll still enjoy College Football in 10 years like we did in our youth.

David Lake wrote a great piece for 247 this week about Miami's "floor and ceiling" players by position, and Ro agrees with the assertion that Jordan Lyle is the ceiling for the running back room, spinning us into a conversation about potential All-Americans this season. Toast is also feeling like Mario might pull a Top 3 class this year, we share a fond farewell to Aaron Feld who is stepping away from the game for the right reasons, and Roman shares that his daughter has been invited to a very high profile women's volleyball camp at Miami!

The Wheel of Topics this week starts with the 9-year-old Panthers fan who went super viral for loving the fights in Game 3, plus Lee Corso's final ride with the College GameDay headgear in Week 1 of the college football season, why the Steelers would ever sign Aaron Rodgers, and Joey Chestnut's hopeful return to the July 4th hot dog eating contest.

And Roman returns for his first round of Five Questions in a few weeks, which this week includes the worst candies we've ever eaten, things that traumatize us, cartoons from our childhood we'd still watch today, jobs that won't be around in 50 years, inanimate objects we would have conversations and changing a band's name with one letter.

  • #174: Miami Power Index Ranking with Andrew Novak - Everyone Bring a Dish
    2025/06/06

We are joined this week by PGA winning golfer Andrew Novak who lodged his first PGA win and is gearing up for the US Open next weekend in Pennsylvania! He is filling in for Ro this week and immediately jumped into his 2nd place finish at the Heritage (and what happened on the putt that lost him the playoff with Justin Thomas) and a bit about his new podcast, Screenplay, which is all NFL.

ESPN's Power Index opened with Miami at #9, and a 30% chance to win the ACC - and while Toast feels it's a low number, Scoop thinks it's really high because Miami has never done it. That spins us into a conversation about how much we'll see the offense change this season compared to last year. And everyone has concerns about the wide receiver room except for Novak, and Scoop is buying in on Beck being "all football" this year.

Novak also talks about the reality that he'll be playing in the Open Championship in Ireland this year, and what it will take for him to make the Masters in 2026. Plus we round it out with Five Questions with Andrew Novak, including who we would turn to for help, the best celebration in sports, stuff we drag our wives to, whether it's harder to get an MLB hit or score an NHL goal, and what people should be fined for in society.

  • #173: ACC Coaches Taking Shots at Miami - Get a Swab Up There
    2025/05/30

Roman is off the show this week so of course we are all over the road - from Toast trying Raising Canes for the first time, the Whataburger craze and just how much you can do with a chicken tender. Plus some props out of the gate to the Florida Panthers who are returning to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third straight year!

As we get down to Greentree, we start with Athlon Sports citing "anonymous" ACC coaches taking shots at the Miami Hurricanes, who seem to wrap their jealousy of Miami's NIL and recruiting success in comparison to the Yankees and Dodgers. And of course there are more proposed changes to the College Football Playoff which continues to frustrate college football fans across the country. Plus Mario continues to throw praise at Hetherman for his performance thus far on the defensive side of the ball, as we all agree that he's the difference maker for Miami to make the Playoffs.

A quick jaunt through the Wheel of Topics covers the Tush Push ban getting shot down, Tyreek Hill saying Travis Hunter is "gonna be ass", an update on the New Orleans escaped prisoners and the woman who suffered a 7-year sinus infection from a stray fart.

And Jenners runs his own style of Five Questions, all tied to events and stories that happened this week. We cover the worst fight you've ever been in with your wife (after French President Macron got slapped by his wife on TV this week), what food you could competitively eat (after Joey Chesnut broke his own popcorn-eating record), things we need to get rid of (after the US announced they'd stop minting the penny), what team is the hardest to root for (now that Scottie Scheffler has more wins in the last three years than the Carolina Panthers) and finally your favorite and most iconic sports photo (as the Ali-Liston photo turned 60 this week.)

  • #172: Miami NIL Haters - You're Not As Smart As Your Dad
    2025/05/22

We open with congratulations to American Heritage for winning the 4A state baseball title this week. Everyone also loves the new Orange Bowl Babies that debuted on social media this week, even though they got Scoop in trouble with his wife.

As we get down to Greentree, everyone has thoughts about David Pollack saying he wouldn't spend $2 million on an Offensive Lineman, which Roman feels is a "homer" take because Georgia missed out on Jackson Cantwell. That spins us down the rabbit hole of how to get the most out of an NIL deal and how you can prevent these guys from taking the money and moving on after a year. Plus more talk about how Mario has developed the recruitment game in the NIL era and why he has excelled at bringing in top Offensive lineman and, in turn, top quarterback transfers.

A user on X also asked ChatGTP to predict the 2025 Miami Hurricanes, and while all the outcomes are all positives the possibilities are borderline ridiculous... and all of us would 100% take that season. And an interesting quote from Manny Diaz (having nothing to do with Miami) about how kids today aren't as invested in your school's history as the fans are. Of course we also come around to the NHL Playoffs as we dance on the graves of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

This week's Wheel of Topics starts with the wild New Orleans prison break story, the Department of Homeland Security's proposal for a game show where immigrants can compete to fast track their citizenship, and the DoorDash driver who got so lost he ended up on the tarmac of O'Hare Airport in Chicago. And as always we close out with a round of Five Questions, which this week includes the worst thing we've ever been told by a teacher, a song that takes us back in time to a good moment in our lives, the most recognizable brand name, the worst cities we've ever visited, and a word or phrase we find cringy.

And we get a surprise visit from Toast's nephew Dylan Dubovik, part of the American Heritage state championship team and a young man who's committed to the U!!

  • #171: Jackson Cantwell Commits to Miami - You Can Get a Pencil Under There
    2025/05/16

Everyone opens with good energy as Miami lands the #1 prospect in the country, Jackson Cantwell... even though his overall rating continues to drop now that he's a Cane. And while no one is surprised that outlets like 247 continue to drop him in the rankings, it's maddening that the narrative around Miami is so different than other schools. Toast, however, is unapologetic for being "the Yankees" of college football. Plus everyone is happy that Carson Beck is throwing and appears to be on a solid road back, as we were all a bit afraid of a setback putting his return behind schedule.

Of course we have to address the story that Mario Crisobal never spoke with Mel Kiper before the draft, after Maio said he heard from everyone but Mel, and ultimately we're not surprised because Kiper has just become a talking head mainstay and not an actual reporter. And after Ro retweeted the list with the lack of Miami accomplishments over the last 11 years, Scoop wants to know if we think it will be easier to win the ACC or the National Championship for Miami.

The wheel of topics covers Bill Belichick and the very real possibility that he'll never coach a game at UNC, the new gravy-flavored KFC ice cream, and the pro golfer who has convinced himself he can train himself to dunk a basketball. And of course we close it out with a round of Five Questions, which this week includes a car where we know the driver is an asshat, things women do that are a turnoff, the most likely cause of a human extinction, where your happy place is, and how your genetics did you dirty.

  • #170: Miami's Two-Deep Predictions - I Can See You Getting Fatter
    2025/05/09

Right out of the gate, we're on to the new Pop Tart ice cream sandwiches that are hitting store shelves, and we'll let you guess who the one guy is that's not into it. That also spins us into a debate about the make-up of "ice cream" Drumsticks that don't melt, and how AI is on the brink of translating what our pets think.

When we get down to Greentree, we actually start with Miami Baseball who has been on a wild turnaround after a really slow start to the season. And after yet another weird off-ramp, we get into the projected two-deep depth chart and immediately debate whether Emory is the guy you want at QB2, regardless of his experience. Plus debates about the depth of the running backs, how the receiving core will stack up, and Scoop's fear that the deeper the roster goes the more we look like a seven win team. Even though everybody is impressed by the look of the rebuilt secondary.

We also take a look at some of the portal kickers we brought in this year after the realization that we've been spoiled with the Borregales brothers over the last several years. And everyone tries to figure out how - other than NIL money - Miami can lure in top recruits like Jackson Cantwell. And as we work through the Wheel of Topics we cover the new American Pope, Paul Pierce walking to work after betting on the Celtics, and amazing audio of a woman getting arrested with a raccoon who was smoking meth.

And we round it out with another round of Five Questions, which this week include our Pope names, where we'd love to be a fly on the wall, something we can't believe hasn't been invented yet, our pets annoying habits and places we've been that don't exist anymore.

This episode is presented by Paul Bange Roofing, the Miami Hurricane Team Store, BeatinTheBookie.com & Manscaped.

  • #169: Miami Represents in NFL Draft - Tap That Rotisserie Chicken
    2025/05/01

Scoop is still recovering from a trip to Arizona which has his clock off by three hours, as we start a sexy episode 169. We quickly get down to Greentree where we dive into the lack of coverage around Cam Ward going #1 overall, and how jilted the ESPN coverage was toward Shedeur Sanders not getting drafted. Everyone on the show is fired up about how bad the coverage was, calling ESPN an embarrassment for the way it was handled!

Xavier Restrepo also gets some props for signing with the Titans after going undrafted, and how that may be a great safety blanket for Cam Ward as he adjusts to the speed of the NFL. Toast is also thrilled that both Arroyo and Martinez went to his Seahawks, and how the Dolphins are going to have to deal with Boregalas kicking field goals on them for years as he goes to the Patriots. Everyone is impressed with Mario's guys representing as well as they did in the Draft.

Plus we take a look at recruiting and the transfer portal as more slot receivers are being added to the room, which Scoop continues to find hilarious, as we need more outside guys on the offense. And the battle continues for the top portal guys as we wait to see if Miami will remain a contender with some of these top guys. We pivot to the NFL as Jordan Travis announced his retirement due to a leg injury, cutting his career wildly short, which we hate for the kid even though he's a Seminole. And while we're on FSU we try to figure out what will happen if Castellanos doesn't work out at quarterback.

The Wheel of Topics starts with the wild story about Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich's son, Jax, having been revealed as the one behind the Shedeur Sanders Draft night prank call, and as parents we try to figure out how his dad disciplines him after a $100K fine. Plus how badly Bill Belichick's young girlfriend Jordon is really causing him drama after their trainwreck interview on CBS, Baylen Dupree returns as she tries to explain Tourette's Syndrome on TikTok, and the debate of the week about whether 100 men could defeat one gorilla.

Plus another wild round of Five Questions, including the day you finally felt like an adult, the male equivalent of being called a "btich", how we'd split lottery winnings with someone who bought us a ticket, the song that instantly puts us in a good mood, and our cheat codes for marriage.

This episode is presented by Paul Bange Roofing, the Miami Hurricane Team Store, BeatinTheBookie.com & Manscaped.

  • #168: Miami Transfer Portal Updates - Steve Irwin Boulevard
    2025/04/24

We open with props to the UM Basketball team's recruiting, which has been ramped up in the last few weeks... and that somehow spins us into a conversation about forgotten department stores and our favorite spots in the mall. But we quickly get down to Greentree, as Mario also offers an update on Carson Beck's progress, which looks like it is ahead of schedule for his return. And we debate whether Beck will have the ROI that Mario will need to ensure he's not billed as "lucky" on his transfer quarterbacks.

Everyone also takes a moment to lament about the dysfunctional Spring portal window and how bad it is, especially as Arkansas now has plans to sue Madden Iamaleava, and how college players will need to start signing contracts to keep this from happening. Plus Curt Cignetti was throwing Miami's name around this week for a reason we really don't mind, and how Lane Kiffin's shot at Carson Beck's NIL deal was based entirely on rumors. Toast also brings the Miami Hurricanes Mount Rushmore to the show as the trend is making the rounds on social media.

Plus we are loaded up with a WILD Wheel of Topics this week, which starts with the falling stock of Shedeur Sanders on the eve of the NFL Draft. We also have a huge laugh at the double-speaking Australian twins who went super viral this week, and wonder if Paul Heyman will be banned from ESPN after his wild appearance on McAfee's show. And the audio of the week from Shaquille O'Neal who clearly destroyed a toilet after running off the set of Inside the NBA on TNT.

And it wouldn't be a show without a round of Five Questions - which this week include what celebrity we'd switch places with, the most petty reason we stopped talking to someone, where we would teleport and what animal parts we'd add to our bodies.
