Nourishing the Mother

著者: Bridget Wood & Julie Tenner
  • サマリー

  • Mothering can be an inspired journey to our most glittering, authentic, passionate, creative and connected selves. Through the mirror offered to us by our children, we are taken to every hurt, unmet need, and also every joy and excitement we’ve ever experienced. We want every woman and mother to give themselves and those around them the compassion, love and healing they so readily offer their children, but rarely allow themselves. Journey with us as we discuss the many layers of being a mother today, where we have come from and where we want to go. Learn tools to connect with yourself, offer compassion to those parts we’d rather deny and get back in love with yourself, motherhood and who you are as a feminine woman.

  • NTM 496: I’m not organised enough to sit with your emotions right now
    2024/12/23

How do we forget, every single year, what December is like as mums? We somehow expect ourselves to 10X the events, organisation, and emotional load — without creating any extra space for it.
    Sound familiar? Us too.
But as conscious mums, we’re always asking: How can we realign, embody, ground, and anchor ourselves in the chaos?
Let's explore how to hold it all — without losing ourselves in the process.

    In the episode we discuss:
    - When you’re already full, how do you fit more in?
    - Berating ourselves for not being more patient, more organised and more present
    - The organisation required to hold our kids’ anxiety for an event is often bigger than the organisation of the actual event
    - Just like your kids, are you allowed to feel overwhelmed? Can you make it okay?
    - Shifting from ‘I’m not doing enough’ when they meltdown to ‘What if they need this?’
    - How much flexibility can you bring to your festive season?
    - Can you throw out any rules around how this festive season should be
    - Nice enough is good enough
    - What’s your guiding intention for this season?
    - When things don’t go to plan, when kids aren’t met, we can hold and anchor
    - If we can’t be with our own guilt or shame, we’ll find it hard to be with our kids’ disappointment
    - How do you want this time of year to feel?

  • NTM 495: Sweet Christmas and New Year? Managing Kids’ Sugar Highs and Lows
    2024/12/16

The festive sugar load can have us spinning into anxiety, apprehension and control, so let’s talk with Naturopath Jess from Natural Super Kids on how to move away from perfect and make change accessible to all of us. Tune in for practical tips, mum advice, and simple solutions to sugar-swings.

    In this episode we discuss:
    - Moving away from ‘perfect’ and optimising your child’s nutritional balance
    - Recognising nuance and your individual child’s limits
    - Loosening up our boundaries around sugar and feeling into our own experience of that
    - Sinking into the realisation that the best lessons are the ones they learn on their own
    - Recognising where your “I can’t let you have more sugar/stay up late etc” is because you can’t be with what’s on the other side of that choice.
    - Having internal flexibility around their sugar intake is possible when you can maintain a healthy base of good quality protein, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates.
    - The effect of sugar on our kids’ microbiome, immunity, tummy problems, toilet accidents, skin issues, behaviour and mood changes.
    - Pimping up their meals with protein
    - ‘Division of responsibility’ approach and how it takes the pressure off parents
    - Reducing stress and control around meals
    - Struggling to hold our kids’ disappointment
    - The importance of hydration
