Normalizing the Mental Health Journey & Living for Ourselves w/Nora Cozzillio

  • サマリー

  • Today is about all things MENTAL HEALTH!

I chat with associate attorney Nora Cozzillio about her own mental health journey, along with:

    • How our hustle and grind culture affects our mind and body
    • Normalizing seeking support when we're struggling
    • Steps we can take to start getting help and living life on our own terms
    • and MORE!

Nora Ezzat Cozzillio is an associate attorney at Tully Rinckey, PLLC and a DMV native. She is a
first-generation Arab American and a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and
The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.
Nora has dedicated her legal career to assisting others who face threats to their livelihood or
careers as a result of severe civil rights violations on behalf of their employers, mentors, or
supervisors. While that has been her primary practice field, Nora’s legal experience is quite
expansive and includes practice in human and labor trafficking law, military justice, sexual
assault, immigration, family, international business, privacy law, and labor and employment.
Some of her previous positions include working for a pro bono legal clinic where she
represented and advocated for low-income clients in immigration, domestic relations, and
administrative proceedings. Nora also developed legal materials and literature to be used in
presentations by international NGOs to immigrant communities informing members of their
rights when confronted by ICE and DHS challenges. Immediately following law school, Nora was an associate at a civilian military defense firm where she primarily conducted work on appellate cases predicated on sexual assault, one of which was heard before the Supreme Court. Nora is currently an associate attorney at Tully Rinckey, PLLC where she represents federal sector and private industry employees with various civil rights claims and labor disputes before federal tribunals and administrative agencies.
Nora was diagnosed with severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and depression during her first year of law school, which is commonly understood as the most difficult and challenging year of any law student’s career. After processing this new development, Nora made it her mission to fully understand her diagnoses and the ways in which she could heal and adapt, particularly in an industry that neglects and delegitimizes the mental health needs of its laborers. Since then, Nora has advocated for more effective and accessible mental health assistance at the law school and practitioner levels. Nora is also a tutor and mentor to law school students who seek guidance and assistance in navigating all things law school related, including the most important principle of prioritizing their mental health.
