Who is the source of serenity and calm in this world?

In 78:6, God talks of the Earth as a cradle for us. Why? And how is this related to the verses that come before about the ‘news’ which people are questioning one another on?

This ‘news’ is none other than Imam Ali (AS). We shall explore the relationship between Imam Ali (AS) and the calming cradle of the Earth through the verses of another Surah that are linked to a historical event where Imam Ali (AS) evidently calmed the people through his divine power.

Many of us might be afraid of dying, but is death really something to be feared? It seems death is portrayed differently in Islamic teachings. 67:1 and 67:2 tell us that death is, like life, a creation of a Blessed God. The death of the wrongdoer and the disbeliever is solace and relief for the others. It would also stop them adding to their sins. As for the believer, death is the beginning of comfort and freedom. Gain a new perspective on life and death, and embrace their sweetness, knowing God has a beautiful plan for both our worldly existence and the hereafter.

Sometimes it might look as if disbelievers and those who prosecute believers are so embedded in their land and home as to be immovable. Who can possibly stand up to them? But 59:2 tells us how God protects believers by striking fear into the hearts of their enemies. And the stronger the faith of the believers, the greater the fear of the disbelievers. The ultimate real-life example was that of Imam Hussein (AS)’s men in Karbala. The coming manifestation of this kind of support will be for Imam Mahdi(a). Hopefully we will be there to witness it, insha’Allah.
