We were both being naughty because we weren't with the kids. Anyway, she went back in. I waved goodbye, and I went back and I turned to the door and I had locked it and there was no way for me to get in."

    "So my first job was. My first paid job was working for a landscape company in my small hometown, and they had a contract to do all the landscaping around the paper mill in town. And so my actual job was at least once a week, maybe twice a week, was to, after school, get some garbage bags from them and collect and pick up trash along the box long fence at the mill. And to also pick up trash in the parking lot."

    "And the coat that I ended up getting was, the majority of it was white, and it wasn't even soft. It wasn't. It was nylon on the outside, you know, and it was, like red, yellow, and blue halfway up it in stripes. And then the top portion of it was just white. And it beat the bright orange one that was there. And I don't remember the other coat. I think it was just black or something."

    "But not only was I able to, you know, accomplish that, you know, working by working and earning my own money, the experience I got working with the kids was something I'll never forget. And still to this day, I can say kids have always been, like, number one for me. I'm very protective of them, and I always look out for them, you know, make sure they're good, make sure they're safe, make sure they're well."

    "I remember back in 1979, there was this guy sitting in front of me in my 8th grade history class. He was really short, but he was really cute too. He was. Had his hair really long as a lot of guys in California did. And I really liked that because it was all. It was what people looked like on all the album covers I had. And this guy really got to me.     "But I was very hardworking that I wrote some eight to nine articles daily, and it stuck with me, and my heart of writing developed. So he asked me. So he asked me to write. And very rarely, he used to give feedback. So this was my first paid job, and I was over the moon, and I was like being a writer, officially a writer, through this job.
