Two US officials said on Wednesday that the US State Department is preparing to issue an order for non-essential staff to leave its embassy in Baghdad due to the possibility of regional unrest. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a note on Wednesday that it was aware of rising tensions in the Middle East, which could lead to an escalation of military activity, directly impacting maritime operations.

The authority advised ships to exercise caution when passing through the Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz.
