    We are excited to host Jules Evans on this episode of the Mangu.tv podcast series.

    Jules Evans is a writer, researcher, and practical philosopher exploring the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern well-being. He is the author of Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations, which examines how ancient philosophy influences Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). A former research fellow at Queen Mary University of London, he has studied the history, philosophy, and psychology of well-being. His work has been featured in The Times, The Economist, and The Guardian. As director of the Challenging Psychedelic Experiences Project, he researches psychedelic integration and mental health, bridging philosophy with contemporary therapeutic practices.

    Jules Evans reflects on his upbringing in London and his time at Eton College. He speaks about his teen years and early experiences with psychedelics, as well as struggles with his mental health during his time at Oxford University. He talks about a near-death ski accident, a mystical experience and the cathartic moment which led him to explore cognitive therapy and Stoicism as well as his interest in ecstatic experiences.

    Giancarlo and Jules discuss personal transformation, ontological experiences, and somatic and talk therapy practices as means of integration. Jules speaks about concerns around the lack of public conservation, research and resources around the possibilities of harm from psychedelics and his NFP, aimed at supporting those experiencing issues.   • 67. Christopher Timmermann on Researching the Neuroscience of DMT on the Brain and Mind

    We are excited to host Christopher Timmermann on this episode of the Mangu.tv podcast.

    Christopher Timmermann (PhD) obtained a BSc in Psychology in Santiago, Chile and an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Bologna in Italy. He is currently a post-doc at Imperial College London at the Centre for Psychedelic Research, where he leads the DMT Research Group. His empirical and theoretical work focuses on the neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, and beliefs of psychedelics, their relationship to consciousness and applications in mental health. The work he has led has been published in high-regarded journals and has been widely covered by mass media outlets. He also founded and is the director of an educational non-profit in Chile, the ECOH Foundation.

    Christopher shares the story of his upbringing in Chile, eyesight issues and an interest in the mind led to his intellectual pursuit. He speaks about his studies in the neuroscience of DMT on the brain and mind. Chris explains what DMT is, debunking some of its myths and sharing some of his research discoveries.

    Giancarlo and Christopher discuss ways that society can integrate psychedelics, looking at legality and serving psychedelics outside the medical system for therapeutic reasons, and human development, such as couples therapy.

    Chris speaks about the new research centre at UCL and intentions to propel new avenues of exploration in psychedelics for insight and creativity, particularly in outdoor and natural settings, as they are taken in indigenous environments.

    Mauro Zappaterra, MD, PhD, earned his degrees from Harvard Medical School and specialises in physical medicine and rehabilitation, focusing on human performance, awareness, and pain reduction. Pra

    ctising mindfulness since 1998, he has taught it to chronic pain patients since 2018. As Director of Multidisciplinary Care at Synovation Medical Group, he integrates new research on cerebrospinal fluid and pain management. Dr. Zappaterra has authored numerous scientific papers and books, including I Am, All One, All Love, and Close Your Eyes, What Do You See? co-written with his son, emphasising awareness and imagination. His alphabet book, A is for Awareness, and programs like Awakening Awareness reflect his dedication to mindfulness, healing, and expanding consciousness.

    Mauro shares the story of his upbringing, and early curiosity in human development and the power of the mind. He speaks about his studies in molecular biology and dissatisfaction with the format of his learning thus leading him down the holistic path and Craniosacral therapy which informed his PhD in Cerebrospinal fluid.

    Giancarlo and Mauro discuss the mystical and scientific significance of cerebrospinal fluid as well as ways to tune into this fluid and space through breath and meditation. Mauro shares his philosophy that by doing these practices, we understand who we truly are, and the connection with the totality of the universe.
