  • S2E1 - Life Flies with Svend Diesel
    2023/02/17

    WELCOME TO SEASON 2!!!

Our first guest this season is Svend Diesel from Utah!

Many of you know Svend for his legendary flies and keeping fly fishing fun.

In this episode we talk about Svend's journey around fly fishing.

We'll talk about why he hung up his waders at one point and what got him back into the the world of chasing fish in his own back yard. Svend shares with us why he tied a fly or flies a day for over 2 years straight and how that commitment took his flies to the next level.

He'll break down the world of commercial tying and why he doesn't participate in creating flies to sell any longer. We'll highlight why many guides/tiers have more than one gig in this industry and how there's no right or wrong way to find your own space.

We'll also chat about the wild world of social media and how some things aren't always what they seem in this space. Svend talks about how to defend yourself and have fun while doing it.

You'll learn some fun facts about what fly Svend would pick if he could only fish one fly forever and his favorite wrestler/intro tune if he had one.

Grab your favorite beverage, some tying material and hit play on this one... you won't want to miss some great knowledge bombs from a guy who's worked hard to get to where he's at!

Thank you again everyone, your support of this creative endeavor makes it all worthwhile for us.... you rock.

  • 6. Holly Jones - Embracing family and finding friends on the water
    2022/08/02

Welcome Holly Jones from Salt Lake City Utah!

This episode is a fantastic chat and reflection on a lifetime of fly fishing on a wide variety of water.

Holly and I talk about the importance and beauty of finding community on the water with fellow anglers and the safe spaces women's groups provide to both new and experienced lady anglers.

We also touch base on the hurt and pain it sometimes causes fresh anglers when being put into positions of authority or sales with little to no experience and how to overcome the "imposter syndrome" or "fake it till ya make it"

I'm excited for you to learn about Holly's kiddo fishing hacks and how to make the most out of your time on the water with kids.

We also take some time to talk about the challenges impacting many of the great rivers surrounding Salt Lake City and if you are in the area what you can do to help.

I hope you enjoy this chat and we appreciate your listen and support!
