In this episode Ma and Pa have their very first baby; a baby named Charles Ingalls Jr. They forget they already have 3 other kids at home and place all their attention on this new baby which Laura does NOT appreciate! Sarah and Emily talk about the miracle of childbirth and reminisce about seeing Swaz in HR's disgusting belly button. We also talk about penny candy and the origins of licorice. It's a wild ride!

In this episode Sarah and Emily get a little off track because the entire episode revolves around a test and winning a dumb history book. We find out the biggest FU a kid can give Ma is studying really, really hard for a test that isn't even required, working an after school job no one asked you to do, AND keep up with your chores and regular schoolwork. We also learn Pa went on some mysterious trip to Mankato but all the townspeople seem to be covering for Pa and making sure Ma knows they saw him.....just 40 miles away in New Ulm.

In this episode we finally learn what cow bells are for as we witness all the children in Walnut Grove become thieves of tin and metal. We learn that the only thing Walnut Grove has needed during this time is NOT running water or even electricity, but a fancy new bell!

We also talk about the Lebanese families that helped settle Mankato. If you would like to read more about how Mankato is what it is today because of Lebanese immigrants, you can read more here: https://blueearthcountyhistory.com/2021/08/04/lebanese-immigration-to-mankato/ and here: https://blueearthcountyhistory.com/2019/05/04/tinkcomville-was-once-a-well-known-place-in-mankato/

Sarah and Emily revisit a potentially triggering episode for raccoon owners. Mary finds an orphaned raccoon and gives it to Laura who teaches it adorable tricks and how to eat eggs. The whole thing goes predictably downhill as one would imagine when you let a raccoon into your prairie home. There's very little of Carrie this episode but a LOT of talk about rabies. Emily calls Sarah out on the carpet for being a cold hearted b****, which isn't NOT true........

In this episode of the docuseries, Pa has a grand plan to make Ma stop being such a wet dishrag and have some fun by going to the Cancun of MN... Mankato! Ma and Pa eat a fancy meal, see a suspect play, and just have a terrible time because Ma cannot forget she has children 82 miles away. Meanwhile, the gals back home have the time of their lives with Mr. Edwards, eat rattlesnake soup and learn a valuable lesson about locking up firearms.

Trigger warning: this episode contains some cultural stereotypes that some may find offensive, but this was 1974. We apologize on behalf of Mr. Edwards. Now that he knows better, he does better.

SPECIAL BONUS CONTENT: listen after the close of the show for special bonus content amongst all 3 sisters.

In this episode Sarah explains the phantom whistling in last week's pod and all the paranormal things that have happened in her home. Sarah and Emily discuss yet ANOTHER foot focused episode and are introduced to one of Kim Richards's earliest roles which happen to be that of a child with a limb difference. Pa does some light blacksmithing, Laura is an amateur marine biologist in the hills of Western Minnesota and Carrie is actually cute this episode.

In this episode two old ladies with very Millennial names die, or kind of die, with the help of Ma and Pa and the Ingalls family. Irish accents come and go, kids peel eggs in a grotesque way and Sarah and Emily get triggered by the use of an autoharp in the episode. But more importantly, make sure you listen all the to the end, starting at the 37:00 minute mark. You can hear ghostly whistling that Sarah's mic captured.

Backstory on the whistling: (Sarah's account) When Em and I were recording last week I heard my husband Jeff whistling in the kitchen while we were actively recording. I was so irritated because I thought he was trying to be funny while we were recording and I was going to tell him off the minute we stopped because it was so distracting. When we were done, I marched into the kitchen to find he wasn't home. I checked my "find my friends" app on my phone and saw he was about 7 miles away at a friend's house helping to unload BBQ equipment and was not home. It was just me and the cats. Take a listen, what do you hear?
