  • The Road to Tokyo - Ep #11 - Alex Porter - Bouncing back to win bronze at Tokyo 2020!
    2021/09/05

I’ve conducted lots of incredible interviews in the past few years and this one well and truly kept me on the edge of my seat.

Alex Porter is a fantastic bloke and his determination and positive attitude is incredible especially considering his dream of winning gold at Tokyo 2020 came crashing down literally.

Alex's handlebars inexcusably collapsed during the 4000 metre team pursuit cycling race.

We spoke about the incident and Alex described the feeling afterwards and injuries that occurred which could’ve been a heck of a lot worse considering he was travelling at 65km/h.

Alex and I also discussed the feeling of joy when he found out that he was going to compete at his first Olympics and what it was like inside the village, his Olympic experience growing up as a kid, funny team mates and how they dealt with the Tokyo Olympics being postponed for twelve months.

Thanks so much to Alex for his time and for being so open and honest with his side of the story with what happened at Tokyo, to Rory Noke from Podbooth for a great job of filming and editing the video and to our partners @Renelec Electrical Services and Anytime Fitness Glenelg for their ongoing support.
