  • Are You Stuck in a Funk? 3 Tips to Help You Feel Better
    2023/04/02

We all find ourselves in a funk sometimes. Work is hard, people hurt us and life can generally deplete us. But staying in a negative mindset can be really unhealthy, and today I give you three tips that you can use to help you feel better and lift yourself out of a difficult moment. I also get really personal and share a situation of my own where I needed to shift my perspective and gain control of my mind again.

When we encounter a situation where someone or something is against us, we’re often right to feel upset, offended or disrespected. We can probably find people to side with us and validate our feelings, too. However, holding on to anger and harbouring toxic energy absolutely does not serve us in the end. I talk about how changing your perspective and looking through a lens of empathy is vital in turning things around.

I run through some steps that I’ve taken to successfully quiet my mind in times of stress:

    • Allowing yourself quiet time to elevate your thinking and reflect objectively on the situation
    • Moving into a place of forgiveness, which helps release you from an unhealthy mindset and ultimately serves you better
    • Taking action you are proud of as the leader you know yourself to be

There is so much anger in the world right now, and if more people can role model the way forward with forgiveness and being a true leader of self, we’ll have a much better world.

We can’t always control situations or other people, but we can choose how we react. It’s what we choose to do when challenges arise that really matters.

What are your values? What do you stand for? What do you stand against? Ask yourself if you’re handling your situation in a way that reflects who you are as a leader.

No one is perfect, but we can strive to be the best version of ourselves as leaders in a world that needs us.

  • Creating Your Life List - Why this Could Be the Key To Your Happiness with Kate Christie
    2023/04/11

We don’t often step back and really take a look at how we’re living our lives until something big happens. We lose someone or something important, we get sick, or a pandemic comes along. But life is for living now, and today I’m chatting with Kate Christie who believes that creating your life list could be the key to your health, happiness and true sense of fulfilment.

Kate is one of Australia's top time management experts, with clients that include the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the European Union. She has taught thousands globally to save 30-plus precious hours of time per month, and how to use that to design and live their best lives. Katie is a bestselling author of five books, and her fifth book is called The Life List: Master Every Moment and Live An Audacious Life, a call to action for women who want more.

In today’s episode, Kate talks us through her own heart-breaking story of loss, which became a catalyst for her to take stock and decide how she really wanted to spend her life. She encourages us to work out what’s truly important to us and adopt practical frameworks that will make sure we live out all the desires we have for our lives.

Kate describes what a life list is and how it differs from a bucket list. Rather than creating a list of things we want to experience before we die - and often put off until then - a life list is full of goals to be lived out today, while we’re still young enough to achieve them.

We discuss the struggle women in particular have with prioritising their own lives and happiness, and Kate gives practical advice on how to find time to make a rewarding life list. This includes changing your language around being busy, and valuing yourself as though you were your most important client.

Kate talks about the process of time audits and shares the alarming results she’s seen within workplaces. We discuss the importance of filling our own cup so that we can show up as our very best selves, living out our ideal lives.

I just love Kate’s vulnerability and the incredible message she has to share. I hope this episode inspires you to really think about what’s important to you, and how you can ensure you’re living out your most meaningful life.

Not only that, but Brianna is also an award-winning songwriter, audio producer and musician. With a focus on creating meaningful stories, Brianna works closely with her clients, all 65 of them globally, to ensure their messaging is on point, branding is clear and digital content is engaging. Bamby Media produces this podcast that you’re listening to right now!

Over the eight years since launching Bamby Media, Brianna has helped hundreds of clients launch and grow their podcasts, with incredible results. As well as podcast and video production, Bamby Media has just launched an advertising and sponsorships arm (Bamby Network) and is kicking off a range of exclusive content creation retreats later in the year.

With a fully remote team, Brianna’s systems and processes are absolutely on point. Drawing on extensive experience in training and development, Brianna explains how she has built a resource hub complete with detailed training videos. She attributes this hub to not only allowing her to effectively run a fully distributed workforce but freeing her up to focus on other parts of her life and business.

Brianna shares how enabling her team to work autonomously has allowed her to focus on client strategy and, importantly, to rediscover who she is outside of work. It’s rare for someone to do this proactively, and it’s so inspiring to hear Brianna talk about how she has created space in her life for joy, fun and her first love, music. This approach also allows her to model creativity to her team and encourages us all to reclaim the silliness we often lose as adults.

Of course, sometimes business involves periods of intensive hard work, and Brianna reveals how she gets through these times and the ways she overcomes challenges in her business such as effective hiring.

Brianna is an inspiring business partner and all-round wonderful human and leader. You will feel so inspired and uplifted after listening to this incredible conversation - dive in!

  • How Manifesting Can Level Up Your Leadership - Personally and Professionally with Zoe Macfarlane
    2023/04/23

My guest today is Zoe Macfarlane - creative writer, intuitive coach and energy healer. Zoe helps her clients shift limiting blocks and beliefs in order to strengthen their connection to their purpose, passion and spirituality. Her mission is to help people level up and open up to receive more magic daily.

I first met Zoe at the Eden Retreat in Queensland last year and I’ve been so keen to chat with her about the power of manifesting, particularly the ways it can level up leadership.

Zoe demystifies manifesting, explaining that it’s simply goal setting plus energy. Everything in the universe has frequency and vibration and Zoe reminds us of the simple power of spending some time visualising and imagining your ultimate goals.

We are always manifesting. Zoe explains the importance of a positive mindset and gratitude and gives us some tips on how to break free from ego and the negativity bias that we have in Western culture. Intuition also plays a big role in manifesting and Zoe gives us some tips on how to get better at listening to and acting on our intuition.

The universe always rewards bravery. Zoe reminds us how important it is to take action steps that feel good for you, even if they run off on an unbeaten path. Good manifesting centres around flow and surrender and Zoe explains that it’s important to let go of the drive to do everything yourself. If you’re allowing flow, you’re allowing yourself to be open to different places, people and things to help you get what you want

How do leadership and manifesting interact? We discuss the power of positivity and bravery when leading by example. Zoe also shares a trick that will help you take control of your energy and not let others drag it down.

Zoe also shares her top three tops for manifesting - they are brilliant!

If you’ve always wanted to try manifesting and haven't been sure where to start, or you’d like some tips on how to reach that next level of success in life and business, this conversation is what you’ve been waiting for!

  • First Leaders: What we can learn from First Nations leadership with Andrew O'Keeffe
    2023/05/07

The majority of the leadership tools, theories and practices that we understand today have sprouted from the discipline of workplace management since the early 1900s. Sadly, First Nations leadership was blindly ignored due to the social settings at the time but there is incredible wisdom to be found in understanding leadership in First Nations.

My guest today is Andrew O’Keeffe, who has recently released his third fascinating book, First Leaders. Growing up in the outback mining town of Broken Hill, Australia, Andrew’s interest in the human side of workplaces goes back a long way. He started his career in the mining and manufacturing industries and later filled senior HR roles within large organisations including IBM.

For the last 15 years, Andrew has run his own consulting and leadership education business, Hardwired Humans, with a focus on helping organisations and individual leaders aligned their leadership practices with human instincts.

In this insightful conversation, Andrew shares some of the wisdom he uncovered and writes about in First Leaders and how we can improve the nature of workplaces by identifying and sharing the wisdom of First Nations.

Andrew shares his experiences and observations travelling the globe to meet with 11 different cultures to discuss leadership within their communities. We discuss some of the principles he writes about in First Leaders, including the importance of respect, the commonality of how and why leaders get appointed and the focus on investing time into mentoring the younger generation.

Discussing learning and development, Andrew shares how large modern workplaces can often leave people feeling anonymous and lost in the system. On the contrary, the First Nations people he interviewed all had close mentors who played a vital role in their lives. We also talk about the lack of gender equality in First Nations leadership and what we can learn from this as well.

Meeting with First Nations people all around the world was an incredible experience for Andrew and there is so much to learn from the wisdom he uncovered. I know you’re going to get so much out of this conversation today.

  • 10 Things You're Missing out On Because You're Busy
    2023/05/14

It’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of work and doing, doing doing. Just about everyone I speak to right now is a version of busy and it should come as no surprise that it’s not working for anyone.

In the episode today, I share some insights into the reasons why busy isn’t serving you and ten things you’re missing out on because you’re busy. Sometimes understanding what you’re missing out on can be a really effective fuel to drive change.

Overall, busy is a choice. Being busy means that you’re not doing things that are meaningful, purposeful and productive.

Those commitments we made during the pandemic, to not go back to life the way it was pre-COVID, seem to be a distant memory. We are back on the busy treadmill and busy is back with a vengeance.

Of course, there will always be periods of time when you are flat-out and the demands on your time and energy are more than you would like. That’s ok. I explain the importance of managing those times and how to put boundaries in place to ensure that doesn’t become the new normal.

I explain why it’s important to understand that you cannot do everything at once and how multitasking is a myth, as well as a massive load on your brain and cognitive functioning.

I reveal the reasons why we love being busy and how dopamine influences this. I share how busyness is intricately connected to our self-worth and frequently viewed as a status signal. I also explain why you don’t have to be busy to be productive.

Being busy has huge implications for your health, your personal and professional life, and on your goals and dreams.

The ten things that we miss out on when we’re busy, range from that all-important intuition & well-being, through to connection and appreciating the now.

If you're back on the busy treadmill and feeling overwhelmed, this episode is for you! Transformations don’t need a health diagnosis or other significant events to understand that life isn’t working for you.

We have one life and we have to make it work for us. I hope this inspires you to take steps, starting today, to move into a different state of being.
