Journeying #41 with Brian O'Loughlin of Movement101, Mobility Training and Personal Development

  • サマリー

  • This week I am joined for a chat with Brian O’Loughlin, one of the founders of Movement 101. I joined up to their online programme last year after having a few different injuries, and just getting fed up with one injury leading on to another! So it was great to chat in person with Brian and hear more about the ethos behind the movement!

Brian and his business partner Rob recognised the need for people, in general, to first learn to move their bodies better before they then go on to engage in whatever sport or activity they choose. Their thinking is that we can overcome most pain and injury if we work on the daily movement of our body first. As opposed to maybe working 5 days a week sat slouched over a computer and then wonder what is wrong with us when our back gives way when we go say, surfing on the weekend. We’ve gone from 0 to 90 and then feel let down by our body when it can’t cooperate with the rapid transition!

Importantly, Movement101 advocates that rather than letting that back pain (or whatever pain) define what we can continue to do (or not do) in the future, they propose we can return to active sport, once we have integrated daily movement and preparation of the back, spine or whatever body part, first.

The chat moves on to introduce a new men’s only platform that they are launching this week, called Telos. I think this is a very interesting development in their journey to integrate learning more about the body, the mind, and personal development holistically. Brian explains why they chose to make it a men’s only space, and what they have in store for the Telos journey.
