  • 294, Buckle Up
    2025/05/13

If the Day of Judgment were held for Gaza alone—with no other case in history to be settled—it would still be a day of overwhelming terror and awe.

We’re now talking about over fifty thousand martyrs, hundreds of thousands injured, and millions of ongoing tragedies—starvation, displacement, grief—stories so painful they’re almost impossible to bear.

If each case took just one hour to be judged, how long would that Day last?

One single case: the killer is brought to account. Then, all those who enabled him—those who helped, who made the bullet possible, who passed along the intel, who incited him with words, actions, or even a silent nod—are also brought forward.

Then, what about those who stayed silent? Who walked away and gave up? Who chose their stomachs and appetites over boycotting the products of the killers of Gaza? Those who rarely brought Gaza, al-Aqsa and Palestine into their discourse, arguing that they "do not discuss politics"? Or those who tip toed around the topic, fearing for their followership, income or both?

What if they, too, are called to answer?

Then, what about those in power—Muslim and non-Muslim alike—who suppressed the truth and spread falsehood? Who silently celebrated the death of Gaza? Who punished those who dared to speak out, who tweeted, who raised a flag, who protested the massacre? What if they are brought forth as well?

All of this for a single case of suffering in Gaza.

So, what about every case of Gaza?

What about every case of Palestine?

What about every case of every living thing that has ever existed?

That inevitable and fast approaching Day will be beyond imagination.

“When the earth is shaken with its final quake, and it throws out its burdens, people will cry out, “What is happening to it?” On that Day, it will speak its stories—because your Lord will have commanded it. That Day, people will emerge in scattered groups to be shown their deeds. Whoever has done even an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever has done even an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”

    (Al-Qur’an, 99:1-8)

    The next phase..

In light of the extreme campaign of brutality in Gaza —and the near-total global abandonment of its victims—a heavy moral debt has been accumulated. Life will simply never return to how it once was before this tragedy. That chapter is closed.

How Allah will settle this debt is known only to Him. But one thing appears certain: it will reach the homes of nearly every human being in the coming period.

Believers must realise that what has taken place in Gaza will not be brushed aside or forgotten in Allah's records. These events were extreme in every sense of the word - in savagery, in hypocrisy, in arrogance, and in the shameful global neglect. Even if every weapon were to fall silent today, enough has already happened to warrant terrifying days ahead.

It's time to rise above the noise and distractions of daily life, to brace our īmān for the phase to come—by turning back to Allah in repentance, by tightening our grip on His dīn, and – equally important - by pushing ourselves to the maximum in aid of Gaza's cause.

This isn’t about pessimism—not in the slightest, as the outcome always favours the righteous. But based on all what has now occurred, and based on what we know of Allah’s fixed laws in the universe, the road to that outcome is going to be filled with real difficulty in the coming phase.

So, register stances of piety and activism whilst you still can, stances of real reformation and change, both within yourself and your circles, even the very smallest of them at your local Masjid, at home, or even smaller.

Perhaps, through our desperate efforts, Allah may spare us from what He has prepared for a world that watched and did nothing.

“So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We rescued those who forbade evil, and seized the wrongdoers with a severe punishment for their rebelliousness.” [Al-Qur'an 7:165]

  • 292, New Beginnings
    2025/02/25

In today's episode. I would like to share something important. I'm taking a break for the first time since starting this podcast (four and a half years ago) as Ramadan is coming upon us and I'd like to focus on reflection and spirituality and getting closer to Allah (SWT) / God.

As I take this break of reflection during Ramadan, I know many of my Catholic friends are observing Lent, a time of introspection and growth for them as well.

I believe this is a crucial time for all of us to consider our own need for downtime, regardless of our background. Its battery charging and gaining clarity in our lives.

So, I hope you join me in think about how you can take time for yourself too.

Let's honour this collective moment of stepping back.

Regardless of our faiths, it's a chance for all of us to focus on what truly matters, recharge, and come back stronger.

    Love and Peace Always,

    Amber

    xoxo
