Would You, Could You, Believe It Now? A podcast about strange journeys, hidden truths, and wild beliefs.
This podcast is about asking ourselves two serious and not often asked questions:
1. Do I really have all the information on something I've been taught to believe?
2. If I learned new information about it, would I still believe the same way?
These are questions that I (Sami) ask myself often as someone with a background in investigative journalism. I've learned to stay open and expect to be surprised when I start digging for the answers. Our western and material-based society has plenty of resources for material-based information. For a long time I used to think the information was easy to find because it was the truth of my reality. The other stuff was fringe because it was all bs and I didn't need to worry about it. But then I went to college to study journalism and my world came crashing in on me.
I quickly learned some hard truths about my society,
The short explanation is that I found out our society actively suppresses certain information in favor of uplifting information that maintains the status quo. Sometimes, that fringe information is very inaccurate and rightly belongs on the fringes, but a lot of the times, that is not the case.
When I learned how to be a true investigative journalist I found so much hidden knowledge existed just beyond my reach that had the potential to radically change my worldview. A lot of this information was even scientifically sound and sturdier than the mainstream information I was taught.
That was very alarming to me. I watched as my classmates one by one dropped journalism and switched to other majors that were less defiant to the mainstream. I was tempted to switch so many times, but I stuck with it. I was one of maybe three students left in my journalism concentration by senior year and until I started this podcast, I thought I had made the biggest mistake.
But now I see that I've been taught to fill an important role in my society- collecting that "fringe" information and bringing it here to you so you can decide for yourself what your reality is.
You deserve to know all the information and not just the information people want you to know. This podcast is about giving you the data on things you've been told not to believe. It's about asking the question, "If you really heard all the information, would you believe it now?"
We're not about convincing you of anything or about changing your beliefs. We don't want to change anything about you. We just want to give you the chance to hear information you otherwise wouldn't have had the time to find so YOU can decide what you want to believe.
You may very well hear our episodes and feel your original belief should stay put.
That's good.
You may also hear our episodes and feel maybe your belief should change.
That is good.
You may listen and feel you don't know anymore and need more information.
That is also good.
Our mission is to help you hear this information so you can decide for yourself with all the facts or at least as many facts as we can find and share.
