    We spoke to Tom earlier in 2022, not long after Teleman’s first full UK tour after the Covid pandemic. 

           

    We talked to Tom about his approach to songwriting, the challenges of being an entertainer and, of course, the song he wishes he wrote; a song by Sia originally released in 2016.

    In this episode we spoke to Canadian artist, Jonas Bonnetta who performs under the band name Evening Hymns. He also releases solo music under his own name.

    We spoke to Jonas at the end of 2021, just as he was about to start recording the follow up to Evening Hymns, 2020 Heavy Nights album. 

    We talked about the excitement of stereo microphones, field recordings and the song he wishes he wrote, a song by Heron originally released in 1970.

    Welcome to Series Two of “I Wish I Wrote That Song”

    For the first episode in the new series we spoke to Katy and Rosa from London based band Peggy Sue shortly before their UK tour at the end of 2021.  

    After many re-arranged dates, they were heading out on tour to promote their 2020 album Vices. We spoke to about pre-rehearsal dinner dates, their collaborations, and of course, the song they wish they wrote, a song by Diane Cluck originally released in 2003.

    For this episode we spoke to Bristol based artist, Fenne Lily, shortly after the release of her new album, Breach.

    Breach is the follow up to her 2018 debut, Hold On.

    We spoke to Fenne about her love for Bandcamp drummer, Kyle, joining a prestigious roster at her label, Dead Oceans and of course, the song she wish she wrote, a song by Sparklehorse released in 2001.

  • Siobhan Maher Kennedy - I Wish I Wrote That Song

    For this episode we spoke to Siobhan Maher Kennedy. Siobhan is possibly best known as the singer with Liverpool band, River City People, as well as being a Children’s TV presenter and actress.

    River City People released two albums in the late 80s and early 90s; Say Something Good and This Is The World. They had their biggest chart success with a cover of California Dreamin’, originally released by Mamas and Papas. After the band split, Siobhan joined Kindred Spirit with Debbie Peterson of the Bangles.

    For the last 26 years, Siobhan has lived in Nashville, USA where she is married to record producer, Ray Kennedy. Her first solo album, Immigrant Flower, co-produced by Ray and Steve Earle, was released to critical acclaim in 2002.

    We spoke to Siobhan about the loss of her friend and songwriting legend, John Prine, her Liver Girls project supporting young breakthrough artists in Liverpool and of course, the song she wish she wrote, a song by Tom Paxton released in 1964.

  • Emily Barker - I Wish I Wrote That Song

    For this episode we spoke to UK based, Australian artist Emily Barker,  just after the release of her single, Return Me,

    Since her debut album, Photos.Fire. Fables in 2007, she has worked as a solo artist, with her band The Red Clay Halo, and has had many collaborations including the Applewood Road album and recently A Window To Other Ways with Marry Waterson.

    Emily is also known for the BAFTA award winning theme song for Kenneth Brannagh’s TV  series, Wallander. She also received an Ivor Novello for the TV theme tune to The Shadow Line.

    We spoke to Emily about her newly discovered love for writing poetry, songwriting, and of course,  the song she wish she wrote, a song by Carole King from Tapestry recorded in the early 70s.

    Jade McInally is the singer, songwriter and guitarist with four piece Australian band, Jade Imagine. The band made a real impression on ‘I Wish I Wrote That Song’ presenter Keith Wyatt when they supported Julia Jacklin on tour in the UK, towards the end of 2018.

    We talked to Jade about her new EP, ‘You Remind Me Of Something I Lost’, covering the Tiny Ruins song ‘Dream Wave’ for the Milk On Milk album and of course, the song she wish she wrote, a song by Sibylle Baier released in 2006, almost 30 years after it was originally recorded..

    The new EP was the follow-up to the critically acclaimed ‘Basic Love’ album released in 2019. As with all of their releases to date, the EP was produced by band member, Tim Harvey.
