Important guidelines for biblical interpretation:
We will go over each guideline in more detail in other episodes.
Symbols:
- Jesus: Rock= 1 Corinthians 10:4, Rose= Song of Solomon 2:1, Light= John 1:4, Bread= John 6:48-49
- Enemy/Satan/Devil: Thief= John 10:10, Lightening= Luke 10:18, Snake/Serpent= Revelation 12:9
- Holy Spirit: Teacher/Helper= John 14:26, Water= Revelation 22:17, Dove= Matthew 3:16, Oil= Luke 10:34, Wind= John 3:8
( Important to know that there are many more symbols for these three throughout the Bible. We are only covering these specific symbols during todays episode )
People: A person can represent three different things in a dream. Get into prayer and seek God on which meaning that person carries in your dream.
- They can literally represent themself, but always pray if they could mean a part of you in character or what their name means first.
- They can represent what that person means to you or their character as a trait God is pointing out within you that God is pointing out to you. Example: You can see your friend Betty as bossy or controlling, Sally is sweet and humble and Suzanna is fearful and unsure about many things.
- They can represent the meaning of their name. Example: Salma Hayek= Salma means peace, helmet of God, and safe. Hayek means grove.
Night Dream: Times of uncertainty, bad place emotionally, confused, hiding things, not living God's way regarding a certain subject or can't see your way through a situation. Just a few scriptures backing up darkness John 8:12, 1 John 1:5, Ephesians 5:8
Day Dream: Understanding, Clarity, and God bringing light into a situation. Psalms 119:130, John 1:5,
Stormy or Bad Weather: Can be trials or obstacles trying to keep us from a destination emotionally, spiritually, or physically. Mark 4:35-41
Storms can be literal, but often used symbolically.
