  • #67- Glordinary Guest: Becky Niemeyer (Part 1)
    2025/05/21

I’ve got a secret! When I daydreamed about launching a podcast, I assumed it would be “interview style” with various guests. I started writing out potential names, topics, and questions. Fast-forward to this week, and we are debuting our first Glordinary Guest episode. These occasional episodes will feature an ordinary friend living a Glordinary life because, well, I can relate to ordinary. You too?

Listen in as I invite my dear friend, Becky Niemeyer, to join me for our first Glordinary Guest episode. Over the next three days, we’ll chat about the extraordinary no, yes, and open-handed invitation of God in Becky’s life. Don’t take my word for it. Listen for yourself to the crazy twists and turns in Becky's life.

  • #66- Glordinary Gordinary: Keeping the Horns in Check
    2025/05/14

When life feels extra, those are the moments I need a little extra reminder to keep my horns in check. You see, even though I’m a nice person, I can grow horns and charge when I’m feeling stressed, presumed upon, and maxed! (Pretty sure that’s not just me.)

Have no fear: God’s got us covered. Join me for an obscure tip from Exodus 21 to help keep our horns safely stowed while the ride of life is in motion.

www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Because here’s the thing: life won’t stop giving us reasons and evidence to bring out the horns, baby. “Release the bull!” We’re gonna “see red,” and the more we watch the news, listen to the clickbait headlines, and jam-pack our lives full to the brim (and overflowing), we’re gonna be ready to charge all the livelong day. Sometimes we can control those circumstances, and sometimes we can’t. So, what can we control? More than we might think.”

  • #65- Truth Trellis: Keeping Facts in Check
    2025/05/07

I don't know about you, but when my calendar’s crammed and life feels maxed, it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most. How do we stay grounded in Truth when life’s throwing out facts fast and furious? Join me as we chat through Genesis 15:7 for a quick-reference tip to stay on track.

    www.glordinary.com

Here’s a small excerpt: "That’s our Truth trellis, and all our other circumstances, facts, and data must respect the boundaries of Truth. Oh, but Truth doesn’t ignore facts. If there’s more month than means, Truth doesn’t ignore that fact. If the diagnosis is bleak, Truth doesn’t ignore facts. If the relationship is strained and threatening collapse, Truth doesn’t ignore facts. If the child is less inclined to the Way and more inclined to wayward, Truth doesn’t ignore those facts. Facts are facts, but facts must respect the boundaries of Truth.”

  • #64- Embracing Habits: God's Best For You
    2025/04/30

Goodbyes are rough, but it’s time to bid farewell to our Habits That Work series. We’ve spent a month of coffee dates chatting through all the what’s, why’s, and how’s related to our habits. So, let’s sip on one last cup of Joe and talk about the Who (um, not the band). We’ll circle through Romans 12:1-2 one more time, together.

www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "That’s the purpose of a rule of life, a trellis. As God’s embracing us, it gives us a little support to embrace Him back. Our rule of life, our habits, give the limp noodles of life just a little bit extra. Because life can feel like we just need a minute to recalibrate. But as The Common Rule author Justin Earley says so perfectly, “A beautiful life inspires a beautiful life. Even when the imitation of Christ is a sorry echo of the real thing....”

  • #63- Watching Habits Work: Movement & Countermovement
    2025/04/23

Life has a way of dragging us down, right? Like it or not, we’re constantly moving. Up, down. Closer, further. How we respond to that movement is up to us. Well-formed habits bring well-formed maturity and movement… in the best direction. So, let’s take a few moments with some time-tested wisdom in Romans 12:1-2 in our series, Habits That Work. We’ll chat about what to do when life is dragging you down.

www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "I was already drowning in the sting of death, the devastation of divorce within my friend circles, the sorrow of separation, betrayal, lies, and cover-ups. I didn’t need any help dragging me down to that level of immaturity. I needed to recognize and respond quickly to the countermovement in my heart. But I couldn’t do that without deciding to cut away certain habits from the trellis of my life. Because unlike the culture around you, “God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you”… -and well-formed maturity comes from well-formed habits. God brings the best out of us from forming the best in us.”
