Generations (Talking 'bout My Sports...)

著者: Jonathan Tan
  • サマリー

  • Sports are a passion for many of us. How sports are played, viewed, and discussed has changed over the decades. Hear how a Boomer, an X'er, and Millennial discuss how sport has changed over the decades. This is not your "Get off my lawn" or "Back in my day" podcast. We explore and discuss how technology, philosophy, economics, race, politics, and other macro-environment aspects have changed how we view, consume, and enjoy sport.

  • S3 E5 - Breakaway RBs across the Generations
    2025/02/01

Steve was enamored with Saquon Barkley's running ability in the NFC Championship game.

Saqoun is the 7th running back to rush for 2,000 yards and did it with the 3rd fewest attempts.

I give historical context and discuss how the game has changed and how the Eagles maximize their talent and scheme.

Steve throws out hyperbolic comments that I checkmate him on each time. Oh, and remember how he said the Chiefs were done?

I think today was just a set-up for Steve to wind me up. We discuss the recent Hall of Fame inductees of Billy Wagner, CC Sabathia, and Ichiro.

Steve makes inflammatory comments about several current Hall members and others not quite in such as: Bert Blyleven, Don Sutton, Don Sutton, and others.

Somehow there is a hallow on the likes of Roy Halladay and a few others. By the way, Todd Helton gets besmirched.

Then we have to talk about the Raiders. Ugh.

  • S3 E3 - QB and the positions of blame and credit - Across the Generations
    2025/01/18

Steve uses Sam Darnold's season as the base case for either the disproportionate credit or blame for QBs.

We discuss other sports and positions and how they are measured for team success.

Steve throws me a question regarding the late, great, Bob Uecker.

Discuss greats such as Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, and how Joe Burrow gets a pass.
