  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "Amity, As You Know, Means Friendship" (15 of 31)
    2025/08/15

Happy Friday morning, Golden Jawgust faithful! My dog woke me up extra early today so I thought I'd turn on the Jawgust machine and talk about the next four minutes of JAWS right away!

And I mostly did that. You'll see.

Today, Mayor Vaughn coerces some locals into the water and spins the hell out of what's been happening to the news crew. Chief talks his son into taking a boat into the pond - and all hell is about to break loose on Amity.

  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "A Cloud in the Shape of a Killer Shark" (14 of 31)
    2025/08/15

Happy Thursday, Golden Jawgust listeners! Today I talk a little bit about a text exchange I had that also relates to some recent Spotify comments.

Oh and for the four minutes - Larry Vaughn is still terrible. Brody and Hooper are doing everything they can to keep people safe, and Peter Benchley makes his film debut.

I also talk about the arcade game featured in this segment of the movie, Killer Shark. Learn more at SegaRetro.org and see someone restore a Killer Shark cabinet on pinsider.com.

Happy Lucky Day 13, Golden Jawgust fans! Today, both Hooper and I got in some water - but his experience was a lot scarier than mine. The show is up extra late tonight because I spent the day up in the Weirs Beach area of New Hampshire with my wife (and saw something pretty amazing - though not JAWS related - at a thrift store).

Anywho, today Ben Gardner's dead. We talk about his head (check out the article I mentioned). And I come to really, really, really hate Mayor Vaughn even more.

  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "In Amity, One Man Can Make a Difference!" (12 of 31)
    2025/08/13

It's Tuesday, day 12 of Golden Jawgust, and for some reason I'm in the mood for white wine and pretzels.

Well anyway, today we discover there's nothing but a bunch of junk inside that poor, poor tiger shark. And after Hooper peer pressures Brody to get in his boat, we also come across Ben Gardner's boat - and it doesn't look so good. I hope Ben is okay.

We'll find out tomorrow! And remember, an island is only an island when you look at it from the water. Words to live by.

  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "I Can Do Anything, I’m the Chief of Police" (11 of 31)
    2025/08/11

Happy Monday Sharkoholics! It's day 11 of Golden Jawgust and I got up extra early this morning to record today's podcast. Okay, I got up extra early because my dog demanded it - and then I read a little - but then I did record the episode!

Today I talk primarily about the dinner table scene between Brody, Hooper and Ellen. That lead me down a little rabbit hole where I discovered I wasn't the only one interested in Hooper's plans on the Aurora.

In fact there are a pair of comic creators out there who are creating a Hooper comic book about just that!

Not only that, but they've also created a comic about Deputy Hendricks!

  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "My Boy is Dead." (10 of 31)
    2025/08/11

How was your day? Mine was good because I got to do another episode of Golden Jawgust! Today we talk about 4 minutes that has an awful lot of quiet time, but there's one moment that really slaps. I notice one thing about Mrs. Kintner's final appearance in the movie - and my buddy Dave randomly called me this evening to bring up another question that miraculously fits perfectly with today's episode.

Of course I couldn't get him to say it on the show - but I still talk about it.

I also read from a USA Today article discussing the death of Lee Fierro, the Martha's Vineyard native who portrayed the mourning Mrs. Kintner.

  • GOLDEN JAWGUST: "Tiger Shark!" (9 of 31)
    2025/08/10

It's day nine of Golden Jawgust and a lot of today's episode is dedicated to talking about Oscar. No, not the tiny golden bald man that the Academy of Motion Pictures gives out - but the very real, very dead tiger shark that everyone thinks is the killer shark...Everyone except Hooper!

Read more about Oscar over at Daily Jaws. Oh - and Happy Birthday Robert Shaw!

Happy Friday, Fin Friends and welcome back to Golden Jawgust. I'm already starting to second guess my decision to go with "Fin Friends," but I also don't want to put forth the effort to go all the way back to that previous sentence and come up with something better. So you get what you get.

Today, Amity finally gets their expert from the Oceanographic Institute as the great Matt Hooper arrives to lend a hand - whilst examining Chrissy's.

Check out the full interview of Craig Kingsbury, aka Ben Gardner, that I mentioned and played a clip of in this episode.
