Chex Mix Recipe
- 1 stick butter (unsalted preferred, but if all you've got is salt, use about 2 teaspoons less of the overall seasoning below)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt, such as Lawry’s
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
- 1-2 cups bite-sized pretzel twists and/or sticks
- 1-2 cups cheerios *
- 1-2 cups nut of your choice *
- 1-2 cups cheez it's *
- 1-2 cups gardettos *
* optional additions
add all cereal and mix additions to baking sheet and loosely mixing with hands | melt butter | measure out dry ingredients + Worcestershire sauce and mix in small bowl | add melted butter and whisk ingredients together and pour over dry mix | bake at 250º for 45-55 minutes (depending on how long you can wait), being sure to stir every 15 minutes | Allow 10 minutes to cool | E N J O Y !
3 Tips for Extra Deliciousness:
1. don't skimp on your seasonings (but also don't overdo it...you can always add more next time)
2. to ensure butter mixture reaches all dry ingredients, start by pouring 1/2 onto dry mix, stirring then adding the other 1/2 of butter mixture and stirring again before adding to your oven
3. lock it up! Or at least consider having someone you trust hide it so your hard earned snack can last you longer than a day
