  • Earth Gratitude and Healing the Planet
    2025/04/18
Hosts Saanvi Phaneendra and Keerthi Eranivan weigh in on how teens can save the planet while being grateful for our glorious planet earth. Saanvi starts off the discussion with her Space Spotlight segment. While today’s conversation is rooted in healing our planet, we can’t ignore the skies above us-because what happens in space impacts Earth more than we realize. She shares that over 100 million pieces of debris orbit our planet-ranging from inactive satellites to tiny fragments from past collisions, all traveling at speeds over 17,000 miles per hour. This growing cloud of space junk poses serious risks to Earth-monitoring satellites, which are critical for tracking climate change, wildfires, sea level rise, and weather patterns. Keerthi and Saanvi then interview Natalie Pace who founded the Earth Gratitude Project which features sustainability tips from the most respected experts and visionaries on the planet, including H.M. King Charles III (when he was H.R.H. The Prince of Wales), H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, Sia, Elon Musk, H.M. Queen Diambi, Deepak Chopra and more. She also talks about teens and financial freedom. College students can use Natalie Pace’s information to get a better degree for half the cost. Natalie Pace's easy as a pie chart nest egg strategies earned gains in the last two recessions and have outperformed the bull markets in between. That is why she is enthusiastically recommended by Nobel Prize winning economist Gary S. Becker and Main Street families. Natalie recommends that students take a gap year between graduating from high school and going to college. In the final segment, Keerthi shows how teens are the final defense to healing and saving the planet. She advises teens to: 1.Embrace Your Inner Eco-Warrior 2. Use Your Voice. And Maybe Your Megaphone. 3. Get a Squad: Saving the planet is way more fun with friends. 4.Make Sustainable Trendy 5. Think Bigger: Earth is our only home! The choices we make now—what we eat, buy, share, and say—will shape the future we all live in. Every choice we make ripples across its forests, oceans, skies… and even space. May the forest be with you! Tune in and heal our planet! • The Importance of Teen Volunteerism
    2025/03/21
    • “Volunteering is at the very core of being a human. No one has made it through life without someone else’s help.” – Heather French Henry

Not all volunteer experiences are created equal. Julia hosts a program about teen volunteerism. Reporter, Armine, joins the conversation in segment two. Julia discusses mandatory volunteerism, whereby many schools require many hours of community service to graduate. Julia says, “On one hand, it pushes students out of their comfort zones, gives them valuable skills, and might even spark a lifelong passion for helping others. On the other hand, forcing someone to be "selfless" kind of defeats the purpose, and if done wrong, it could turn students off from community service entirely. What’s the solution? Both Julia and Armine agree that a middle ground is the way to go. Instead of requiring a set number of hours, schools could strongly encourage volunteering while offering meaningful, engaging opportunities. Instead of a graduation requirement, tie volunteerism to extra credit or special recognition. Armine states that being a volunteer helps a teen be proactive, compassionate, and willing to invest in the community. There are tangible benefits of volunteering, and it also shapes character. Volunteering fosters empathy, responsibility, and the ability to connect with others. These qualities are important for healthy, happy living. Being a teen volunteer inspires confidence and leadership while helping teens communicate about complex environmental issues.

As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

  • Learning Critical Life skills and Developing Them
    2025/03/14

“Skill is the unified force of experience, intellect and passion in their operation.” - John Ruskin

What is a life skill and how do you develop one? Host Diya with reporters Kirpa and Milan tackle these critical questions for teens. A life skill will help you throughout life whether it is something very important, or something simple. It can be learning how to cook, manage money, or how to be a good friend. Critical thinking and emotional intelligence are essential for problem-solving and decision-making as well as understanding and empathizing with others. To build healthy relationships we need to navigate social situations. Time management involves planning or utilizing your time wisely. Following daily routines on time, completing your tasks or assignments, and prioritizing important items can build your self-confidence. Life skills are crucial for both personal and professional success because they equip individuals with the practical abilities to navigate challenges, build relationships, and achieve goals, ultimately leading to greater fulfillment and career advancement.

  • Self-Care and Healthy Relationships
    2025/03/07
    • Self-care is the art of nurturing your mind, body, and soul to achieve inner harmony. Host Diya talks about one of the most important actions that play into everyday life: the practice of self-care and building healthy relationships. Some ways to create healthy relationships include having open communication, respect, and most importantly trust. Having meaningful communication opens our minds so that we understand the world from different perspectives. It is also important to set healthy boundaries to help improve self- care capabilities and protect mental health. Reporter Kirpa posits that self-care allows a person to maintain stress healthily, boost mood, increase energy levels, and allow for a happier, fuller life. To rebuild relationships or rekindle trust, it is critical to take responsibility for actions, practice forgiveness, prioritize open, honest communication, and exhibit patience. Nurture your body, mind, and spirit by caring for yourself.

  • Is A.I. Friend or Foe
    2025/02/28
    • "AI is not a threat, but a tool—one that amplifies human ingenuity and expands the boundaries of what’s possible." — Satya Nadella

    • Host Saanvi Phaneendra tackles one of the most debated and mind-blowing topics in the world of technology; Artificial Intelligence. I. and how he uses it. Saanvi then takes us to outer space with her segment, Space Spotlight. When we think of space exploration, we often picture astronauts, rovers, and giant telescopes. • Do Teens Have Agency and Choice
    2025/02/21

“You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you."— Brian Tracy

Host Julia Howe starts by discussing teen health and doctor appointments. She offers these tips:

    • Prioritize mental health by finding a support system and knowing when to ask for help.
    • Build habits that future-you will be grateful for, like staying active, eating well, and actually sleeping at a reasonable hour.
    • Be aware of relationships—whether that means friendships, dating, or just surrounding yourself with people who lift you up instead of dragging you down.

She advocates for asking questions. Be involved. The choices we make today shape who we become tomorrow. If we want to be strong, healthy, and ready for whatever life throws at us, we have to start taking charge—now. Your health. Your body. Your future. Own it.

In segment two, Julia tackles dress codes. Schools argue that dress codes exist for three main reasons:

    1. To prevent distractions.
    2. To promote professionalism.
    3. To ensure safety.

Julia breaks down the rules and offers better suggestions. Dress codes should be about making sure students feel comfortable and respected, not about controlling what they wear. Schools should be places of learning, not places where students—especially girls, students of color, and religious minorities—are constantly policed over their appearance.

Julia’s final message: “Your voice, your power, your future!”
