The gang tackles Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien. The podcast's audience had a chance to vote on what genre the last movie would come from in our chapter on Horror's Versatility. Sci Fi was chosen, and of course, it had to be Alien.

We discuss our experience with the franchise, what kind of lens we used during this viewing, our favorite scenes, the variety of genre from each franchise entry, Ripley, and our perception of the movie's theme.

The guys rely on their reactions and feelings to get through this analysis of the 2022 movie Skinamarink. This is the Experimental portion of the Horror Versatility chapter, as chosen by Tin Man and KMax. Mr Vozly relates the movie to an art installation or video art rather than a traditional movie. As always we discuss our initial reactions, but we also discuss the ideas of jump scare vs dread vs discomfort with examples from this movie. We work together this time to piece together our interpretations of the theme.

The second movie in the Horror's Versatility chapter comes from 2020's The Wolf of Snow Hollow, written, directed, and starring Jim Cummings. This represents horror's reach into the crime/thriller genre (and maybe more?).

The guys talk about the movie's effectiveness as genre, and how effective watching with different lenses is. We also individually break down what we thought the theme was, pulling from specific examples from the movie. Different perspectives, different perceptions.

A familiar zombie classic is the first movie in the Horror's Versatility chapter of the podcast. The 2004 film by Edgar Wright deserves an in depth look at all the callbacks, foreshadowing, characterization, and symbolism.

Shaun of The Dead serves as the comedy viewing when relating to the versatility of horror as discussed in Episode 13.

Spooky season has begun, and so must our chapter on horror. We go over our personal history of horror movies, from movie going experiences, to movies and scenes that terrified us. We also review our favorite horror movies before venturing into just how versatile the horror film can be.

The guys burn some midnight oil and talk about the 2017 movie Mother! Ripe for interpretation, we breakdown how biblical references are used, how God, Mankind, and Mother Earth are portrayed, and just how much theme and allegory drives the movie.

In this hefty episode, the guys discuss the idea of religion and faith in movies. What constitutes as a depiction of faith and religion? Must it be biblical, or can it be conceptual? Can it be as basic as good vs evil? We try to answer these questions using several different films as examples. Mr Vozly presents the friend and foe of religion in movies- horror. We cap things off by presenting our personal favorite movie with religion in it as well as the movie we think is most important to view.
