Ben interviews Jade MacRae in a stop over of Joe Bonamassa's tour in Springfield, Illinois on Nov. 26, 2024 at the UIS Performing Arts Center.
MacRae is an Australian-born singer who currently lives in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. MacRae's parents were respected musical artists, and passed their knowledge on to her at a young age. She is best known in her native Australia for 2 Top 40 Australian charting singles in 2005 - "So Hot Right Now" and "Superstar."
After the pop stardom went away, MacRae pivoted towards more blues, soul, funk, and classic R&B styles on her later releases. In the early 2010s, she joined Joe Bonamassa's touring band and continues to work with the acclaimed guitarist full time. In June 2020, she released Handle Me With Care - an album that explores the personal loss in breaking up and heartache, which received several positive reviews. In September 2024, she released a follow up - In My Veins which also generated buzz and much acclaim. Tracks from both albums appear in this episode.
