Mike and David venture into books for an older audience—don’t worry, still kids—with Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We’ll learn how to churn butter, smoke a deer (the meat) and other fun stuff. Two classy dads dishing on an American classic. Check it out.

In this weeks episode, David and Mike explore the wild and wackily kookified world of Dan Gutman!

This week, David did research and Mike read the back of the book, finding that, "More than 6 million kids have laughed..." We would like to add to that, these 2 dads, who laughed heartily from the 30th floor, while discussing the Matrix with Mrs. Zarves.

This week, Mike and David discuss... nothing. We speak of many things, "The Book with No Pictures," which is much like the beginning of life, a blank canvas. We discuss ideas for sequels, and the deep existentialist meaning of the artistically artsy artistry within the annals of it's history. David drops names, Mike sweeps them up, and in the end just, "Move along, nothing to see, hear."

This week Davey and Mikey talk about one of Mike's favorite childhood books, "Frog and Toad are Friends." We discuss some interesting things we learned about the author and decide which character we relate to more. In addition, we give Frog and Toad names, and discuss the origins of snail mail. All in all, a ribbiting good time!

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go

In this week's episode, David and Mike talk about Richard Scarry and his books. Mike picks the wrong book to buy and David thinks that's hilarious. We make suggestions about book titles and laugh a lot about the books and reference back to episodes from long long ago. Enjoy this episode of Dads on Books!

Dad's on Books- EPISODE 4

David And Mike take on the book, Big Words for Little People, by Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell. Listen as David tells us why he didn't like the book, and then changes his mind as he continues reading it. Mike was confused, so he hadn't reread it, but he remembers a lot of it, because he read it so many times. Thanks to Mike's brother Byl, for giving this stupendous and superb book to us originally. We didn't mean for it to run this long, there were just so many Big Words to talk about!

Dads on Books returns for episode 3!

In this episode hosts David Patrick and Mike Walker discuss the children's book Mrs. McTats and Her Houseful of Cats by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Joan Rankin. They discuss Mrs. McTats and the story follows how she acquires her numerous cats, and how it is a "teaching"" book. Mike shares his Mrs. McTats voice and they talk about the artwork in the book. We go on finding fun details, especially the chickens and crazy house decor. They both highly recommend the book, especially for those who enjoy doing silly voices. They conclude that the book is great for learning the alphabet, basic math, and more!
