  • Entering New Cultures by Reading Their Stories
    2025/07/09

Join us in conversation with Jonathan Norgate as we listen to Crosslands Seminary students reflect on a Nigerian documentary about polystic ovary syndrome, an Urdu story about a pimp and prostitute, and a Canadian movie about the traumatic impact of the Lebanese civil war. Why are these stories so compelling? How do they help us enter a culture? And what value is this for Christian ministry?

Here are the three titles the students explored:

    • Where the heck is my period? Dir. Michael Akinrogunde (2024)
    • “Khushiya” in Bombay Stories, Sa’adat Hasan Manto (Vintage Classics, 2014)
    • Incendies, Dir. Denis Villeneuve (2010)
