  • Resonance and Attunement in Airway-Centered Care with Karindy Ong
    2025/01/15

Karindy Ong is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) with a diverse background. She has experience working in hospital settings with severe brain and spinal cord injuries, where she was first introduced to primitive reflexes. This experience led her to develop a systems-thinking approach to treating patients with dysphasia (swallowing difficulties). She is also a biohacker, a myofunctional therapy expert, and has training in bodywork. Her multifaceted approach allows her to integrate different perspectives when working with patients of all ages.

Karindy's shift towards a more holistic approach began with her experiences during pregnancy and childbirth. She felt a lack of support from the traditional medical system, especially while navigating gestational diabetes and wanting a more natural birth. This prompted her to research and incorporate intermittent fasting and support her cellular biology. She further dove into myofunctional therapy when her children experienced tongue ties, recognizing the importance of airway and proper breathing for overall health.

"MyoMagic at Home" is an online course created by Karindy Ong for families to learn foundational myofunctional concepts. The course includes modules on various aspects of the face, mouth, and swallow and also provides an exercise library with demonstration videos. This resource is meant to reduce treatment time, support parents living in places without access to professional care, and empower parents to incorporate the concepts at home. It is also a resource for other SLPs and myofunctional therapists to consider when sharing these concepts.
