  • #2 – What the United Healthcare CEO shooting can tell us about greed and generosity in our culture
    2024/12/19

On December 4, 2024, United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot. In the manhunt that ensued, our culture began to wrestle with reasoning and the economic inequalities that may have played a role in the event. Though not long after we recorded this podcast, the alleged killer was arrested, we began to ask the question “What can this event tell us about what is happening in our culture?” At a time of year when most Americans are buying gifts for loved ones and thinking about how they can give back, we are also facing economic turmoil, inflation, inequality, and unrivaled greed. These things weigh heavily on our culture, bringing up to ponder — “Are we as a culture less generous?” Pastor Eddie and Cameron host a conversation on how generosity remains important in our culture and how we as a Christians can be vigilant to keep being generous as God has called us to be no matter what.

What’s going on in our world and how does our church respond? By taking on the difficult issues in our culture, speaking with truth and compassion, we hope to bring clarity to a world so deeply and easily ravaged by divides, discourse, and discontent. Join us as we grapple with these issues, ultimately seeking to point to Jesus in the midst of these difficult issues.
