  • Courage and Unity in a Time of Pain - Yom HaZikaron, 29 April 2025
    2025/05/06

On Yom HaZikaron, Chief Rabbi Dr. Warren Goldstein delivered a powerful address at the South African Zionist Federation ceremony in Johannesburg, paying tribute to Israel’s fallen soldiers, victims of terror, and the extraordinary courage of the Israeli people.

With heartfelt words, he reminds us: “Hazak ve’ematz” — be strong and courageous. These ancient words are the foundation of Jewish survival, strength, and dignity. We mourn. We stand in awe. And we recommit ourselves to the cause of unity, justice, and unwavering support for the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

    Listen. Remember. Stand together.

  • Respect isn’t Polite — it’s Spiritual | Parsha with the Chief
    2025/05/05

Speech flows from the soul. The urge to speak negatively about others often comes from a need to feel superior. That’s why the real battle isn’t against words – it’s against ego. Pirkei Avot offers a counter-force that can change your life.

In exploring this, in the context of this week’s parsha - Tazria-Metzora - Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein explains why Pirkei Avot — the foundational book of Jewish ethics — doesn’t even mention focus on the halachic prohibitions of gossip and verbal harm. Instead, it takes us to the root of the issue: the character traits that cause us to look down on others in the first place.

Drawing from profound Torah sources — including Pirkei Avot, Ramban and Vilna Gaon, — Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein explores how the pursuit of honour, arrogance, and feelings of superiority corrode our interactions. And how acts of genuine respect are the first, most powerful step toward transforming how we treat others — and ourselves.

Listen now for a Torah approach to respect, humility, and the spirit of God in every person. #TorahEthics #JewishValues #Respect

  • The art of empathy - Parshat Shemini
    2025/04/24

Silence is not absence. It’s presence without intrusion. Comfort without explanation. Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do—is nothing at all.

Why does the Torah emphasize Aharon’s silence after the tragic death of his sons, Nadav and Avihu?

In this moving Parsha reflection, Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein explores the profound spiritual and emotional power of silence—what it means to hold space for pain, to lead with restraint, and to offer comfort through presence rather than words.

Drawing on Pirkei Avot, the Ba’al HaTurim, and insights from the Midrash, this video reframes how we understand grief, kindness, and our partnership with G-d in a world filled with vulnerability and loss.

Listen now and discover what it truly means to walk in G-d’s ways.

  • Trump’s South Africa Mistake
    2025/04/06

The Trump Administration’s policy to focus on white-Afrikaners by offering them refugee status in the United States, now supported by a bill just introduced into Congress, falls into the same trap as the ANC does—understanding South Africa as a conflict between black and white.

Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein explains why framing South Africa’s problems as a black-vs-white conflict is not only inaccurate, but deeply damaging.

Yes, white farmers face real threats. But black farmers do too. In fact, black South Africans suffer most from the government’s failures – from land expropriation without title, to stock theft, to failing services.

South Africa’s crisis is not racial. It’s about valuesl. And the solution lies in a new alliance: built on shared values of faith, family, work, dignity, law and decency — values that unite black and white South Africans, and that align with the American founding vision.

This is the message America needs to hear.

  • Parsha with the Chief: Vayikra - Why We Pray
    2025/04/05

Why do we pray? God already knows our needs so why do we need to ask?

In this talk, Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein explores this week’s parsha, Vayikra, through the lens of Pirkei Avot — uncovering the structure, tension, and transformative purpose of prayer.

Prayer is not for God. It is a gift from God — for us.

Through a deep dive into the Mishnah, the Amidah, and Jewish thought, the Chief shares why our tefillah must contain both form and spirit, structure and soul.

He explains how prayer doesn’t aim to change God — it comes to change us. And why, even in the most modern, rational world, the yearning to connect with the Creator has never disappeared.

Listen this powerful shiur on the inner meaning of prayer — and what it can do for your life.

  • Parsha with the Chief: Pekudei – The Power of Action
    2025/03/27

Judaism is a system grounded not only in vision and ideas, but in action.

As we study Parshat Pekudei, we return once again to the Mishkan—the portable sanctuary that stood at the heart of Jewish life in the desert. The Torah dedicates extensive space not only to its design, but to its actual construction. Why such repetition?

Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein draws on the timeless wisdom of Pirkei Avot to uncover a profound truth: in Judaism, it is not enough to think or speak—we must act. The repetition is not excess; it is emphasis. A reminder that great plans only matter when they are brought to life.

This parsha shiur is a deep dive into the values of integrity, follow-through, and spiritual action. Learn why the Torah emphasises deed over thought, and how this message from Parshat Pekudei can transform your daily life.

Join the Chief for a powerful reflection on how the Mishkan teaches us to live with purpose, discipline, and follow-through.
