He wasn’t after money.
He was after revenge.
In this episode of Fugitive Files, we uncover the chilling case of Shahram Poursafi, an alleged member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot on American soil.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Poursafi attempted to hire a hitman for $300,000 to assassinate former National Security Advisor John Bolton — in what prosecutors believe was retaliation for the 2020 killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. And that wasn’t the end of it. After the first plot stalled, Poursafi allegedly dangled a second “job” for $1 million, possibly targeting former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Though Iran has publicly denied involvement, U.S. intelligence agencies say the threat is real — and ongoing. With Poursafi still at large, and a $20 million reward now offered for information leading to his capture, the case marks a dangerous intersection of state-sponsored terror and international revenge.
Poursafi is charged with:
Use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire
Providing material support to a transnational murder plot
This isn’t just a criminal case.
It’s a warning shot in a shadow war.
This is Fugitive Files. Let’s get into it.
