Our A.G.M. took place on Friday last at Pairc na nEalaí. We’d like to thank all those that attended on the night, and we’d also like to say a massive thank you to the outgoing 2023 committee for all their hard work throughout the year. We’d also like to wish the 2024 committee the very best of luck for the year ahead. Check out our Social Media accounts for details of the incoming committee.
Congratulations to Dick Lanigan who was voted honorary Life President of Carrick Swan Club on the night, also. Well deserved, Dick.
The construction and installation of our 1,750m2 synthetic grass training area complete with a 35m ball wall commences this week. The development will utilise part of the existing grass training area and will be completed within the next 10 weeks.
The synthetic grass area will be 50m x 35m and will comprise of 3G FIFA certified synthetic grass with 60mm monofilament grass sand/rubber infill laid on a shock pad system. The area will be fully drained and surrounded with a 2.4m high mesh fence on top of which will be ball stop netting 2.6m high giving a total height of 5m. There will also be two entrance gates, one double and one single with a roadway from the existing car park.
The concrete precast ball wall will be 35 metres in length and 5 metres in height. The area will be fully floodlit with a 4 column 12 metre high LED flood lighting system. Premier Pitches, from Cashel, are the contractor.
This project will cost in the region of €250,000. Once complete it will bring spending on the Pairc na nEalaí project to in excess of €1.35m. A massive amount of money, and none of this would have been possible without your continued support of our weekly lotto, and our ever popular annual 12 Days of Christmas Draw, which will return later in 2024. Thank you for your continued and appreciated support.
As we start building our new ball wall and all-weather pitch, there will be some topsoil available to take away free of charge. It will be available towards the end of this week. Please note that you’ll need to be able to collect it from Páirc na nEalaí.
The club would like to congratulate two of our juveniles, Alex O’Dwyer and Noah Power, who were part of victorious South Tipp Football panels recently. Alex played full forward on the u13 ‘A’ team who defeated North Tipperary in the Dom Browne Cup Final while Noah played full forward on the u14 South Tipp team that beat West Tipperary in the Mick Frawley Cup final. Both finals took place in the first week in January, and both Alex & Noah raised green flags in their respective finals. Congratulations boys.
Well done also to the three O’Halloran’s who represent the club in Blue & Gold on Sunday. Emma lined out for the Tipp Junior Camogie ladies, Aaron lined out for the Tipp u20 hurlers, and Gavin made his debut for the Tipp Senior hurlers, who defeated Kerry in the Munster League. It’s a superb achievement for three members of the one family to play for Tipperary in one day.
The club would like to congratulate Scoil Mhuire, Greenhill, on a magnificent victory on Saturday, winning the Munster Junior Camogie Championship. Well done, ladies.
