このコンテンツについて
Brock McLean is a former AFL footballer who played 157 games across x2 Clubs – Melbourne F.C. and Carlton F.C.
A highly talented junior, Brock made the All-Australian u18 side and was taken with pick #5 in 2003 National Draft. He quickly established himself as a respected and leading midfielder in the competition.
However, what the public wasn’t aware of was the mental health battle, the drug and alcohol abuse and the diagnoses of depression and bipolar disease.
In this episode, we dig deep into Brock’s darkest times, his ability to bring himself back from adversity and the importance of speaking up when you are not OK. This is an inspiring and raw conversation with some simple yet critical reminders for us all;
- Never worry about what other people think of you
- Don’t be scared of failure
- Be around people who make you happy
- Make sure you talk to someone if you are struggling; speak up….it’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.
I hope you are inspired by this episode as much as I was. It is truly a credit to Brock with the person he has turned out to be, and the amazing courage it took to turn his life around.
There are always people who want to help you, so please don’t fight your battles alone. Talk to a friend, family member or reach out to professionals. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
