Almost one year ago to the day I had an abortion. I knew I had always wanted children, still want children, but made the difficult decision to have an abortion. At the time, I didn't know anyone who had had an abortion and I felt extreme shame. Over time, I came to realize that many of my friends had had an abortion but that no one had spoken to anyone about it. We talk about it being a woman's choice, but the conversation ends there. And by ending the conversation there, we fail to acknowledge the burden of this choice, the pressure, the lack of community to discuss it, and the emotions, hormones, mental and physical experiences. Whatever your decision is, know that you're not alone. I'm not here to give advice, only to share mine and others stories.
