  • Mike Love of The Beach Boys
    2025/04/01

In this episode of Biff Bam Pop! Presents! Andy Burns chats with the legendary Mike Love!

From Andy: No band defines fun, fun, fun more than the one and only Beach Boys. For nearly 30 years, the band have been one of my all-time favourites; I love everything from the surf and car music they created back in 1961 through their amazing pop classics like their defining album Pet Sounds and their epic pocket symphony, “Good Vibrations.” And that is just for starters. Go listen to excellent albums like Sunflower and Surf’s Up, Love You and their likely final effort, That’s Why God Made The Radio. There’s so much beauty throughout their fantastic catalogue.

The one constant in The Beach Boys for more than 60 years has been Mike Love, one of the group’s lead vocalists and co-songwriters. Working alongside his cousin Brian Wilson, Love had a massive hand in some of the most enduring songs ever. Love has been keepin’ the summer alive and the band on the road for decades, with the current iteration of the Beach Boys, which also feels longtime member Bruche Johnston, currently travelling across Canada for their Endless Summer Gold tour. This Tuesday, they hit London, Ontario, and play Mississauga, Ontario, on April 3.

  • Heroes & Villains: Adam Carter's "Betweeners"
    2025/03/26

In this episode we sit down with Adam Carter, the CBC News reporter and comics creator behind Betweeners, A supernatural horror story that turns the exorcism genre on its head.

Exorcist Shane Beck has a secret: He’s not really Shane Beck. His body is possessed by the soul of Mike Baxter, a grifter who died in the 1980s and spent decades suffering in Hell—until he found a way out. Now, using Beck’s body, Baxter performs exorcisms while staying one step ahead of the demons that hunt him. But when Beck’s estranged son, James, shows up desperate for help, Baxter finds himself in an unfamiliar role: pretending to be a father.

When an elite agent from hell tracks them down, Baxter and James are forced into a deadly fight for survival. The battle that follows will push Baxter to his limits, forcing him to face the question he’s been avoiding: Can redemption be earned? Or is he doomed to the fate he tried to outrun?

We also talk about Adam's path from Newfoundland to Toronto and his journey from journalist to graphic novel author! And maybe just a little bit about The Simpsons, Canadian bands, and a couple of comics worth reading after you've checked out Betweeners!

Betweeners is out April 30th! Check it out on GlobalComix and Amazon Kindle.
