"For instance, Padosi was about an outsider reed Britisher attempting to divide two good neighbors Thakur and Mirza. Now this was unique to India because the American war of independence happened much before cinema took birth in the US. And Britain was not fighting any war of independence in an independent India too, it was interesting to observe how the socioeconomic contours influenced key features like romance, villainy and music. The late 1940s and the 1950s were a period of pain with people getting uprooted from their homes."

"And in those pre metro days, MuMBAI local train network allowed you to travel through the heart of the city at 50, even during peak hours, at rates that the common man could still afford. During my visits I picked up a few terminologies. An auto rickshaw is simply called a rickshaw. A five story building, I learnt, is called a Pach Mala Makan, not Manzil."

"So there lay the connection between Ruskin Bond's literary work, flight of Pigeons and Bollywood. Similarly, cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has authored more books than any other cricketer and his first book Sunny Days, sold 60,000 copies. And to celebrate Gavaskar's literary career, there was a session with him and celebrity sports commentator of Yesteryear's Kishore Bhimani at Kolkata Lead Me 2017."

"The child suffers a skull fracture and is hallucinating from the trauma. Yet the village doctor, whose medical testimony could be key, agrees to furnish a report that the two culprits were admitted in a hospital the day the nine year old was raped. Money and power. Power and money. The name of the game. A pair of kidneys of a woman with a rare blood group can fetch up to $1million. As Dr. Swami states in the film Andhadhon, medicine is an investment. Studying medicine is expensive."

"It puts its hard earned Diwali bonus on star value. All the Diwali successes we have spoken of have had reigning stars in the lead. Now does a high octane star cast ensure that the film will take off like a rocket? How they wish the 2022 Diwali release Ram Setu flopped badly, as did the 2009 release Blue and the 2010 action replay. But the hardest to fall was Thugs of Hindustan that barely crossed its budget of 320 crores of rupees."

"At the same time it was informative, narrated tautly and balanced with sincere research into legal history. It also had the difficult task of juggling between multiple villains, Kashmir militants, Pakistan and Khawar Ali, and which the narrative did a reasonably good job of balancing all these three out. It was a well made film on all counts. So what is the way forward for these propaganda films, in my opinion. Firstly, please avoid making these films as far as possible because your target audience reads newspapers."
