    John Carpenters The Thing is probably his best film to date. Starring Kurt Russell at his best this film is a must watch for sci-fi fans and still holds up today. It's worth watching for the practical effects alone. Hot Frosty isn't.

    This week the lads take a look at the 2016 film Hidden Figures. Based on the book by Margot Lee Shetterly Hidden Figures tells the story of three African American women working for NASA during the 1950's. Whilst playing a pivotal role in the success of NASA at the time the women had to cope with racial and gender discrimination. Listen on to hear what the lads made of the film.

  • Howl's Moving Castle 2005

    This week in a break from the norm we took a look at the Hayao Miyazaki animated film Howl's Moving Castle. At times this film is visually stunning but as with many of Miyazaki's films sometime a little hard to follow. The story in Howl's Moving Castle is based in an alternate reality filled with wizard, witches, turnip topped scare crows and talking fire. A great film for younger audiences which did fantastically well at the box office. listen on to hear what we thought of it. This film was a suggestion so thank you to Etsuko for suggesting the film.

    This week we take a look at the hidden gem Wicked Little Letters. Based on the true story of a series of letters laced with profanities that were sent to various residents in the sea side town of Littlehampton in the 1920's. At the time the letters were seen as so serious that the then home secretary himself got involved. Rose Gooding was accused and convicted of sending the letters but was she the culprit? Were these letters a prelude to trolling that we all to often hear of today?!

    This week we took look at the underrated film The Outfit. very well cast and with a good flow this film is a quiet must watch. Based around an English cutter that decides it's time to break away from the gangs using his shop as a front for money laundering.

  • Bridge Too Far (1977) and Terminator 2 (1991)

    This week we take a look at the ground breaking sequel Terminator 2. Directed by James Cameron this movie had effects that were for the time ground breaking and for a while set the standard of film special effects. We also chat about the 1977 epic A Bridge Too Far. Controversial at the time the film tells the story of the failed Allied offencive Market Garden. Due to poor planning lack of equipment and no communications operation Market Garden is seen as one of WWII most costly failures.
