The Legend of Rani Velu Nachyar

In this episode, we dive into the inspiring tale of Rani Velu Nachyar, a warrior queen from southern India. Known as the first queen in Indian history to successfully wage war against the British, Rani Velu Nachyar's story is one of bravery, resilience, and leadership.

Born in 1730 AD to the royal family of Ramnath kingdom, Rani Velu Nachyar was trained in weapons, martial arts, and strategic warfare from a young age. She was proficient in archery, horse riding, and stick fighting. Additionally, she learned several languages and acquired skills in statesmanship.

After marrying the king of Shivagangai and having a daughter, tragedy struck when her husband was killed in battle by the invading British army. This event led Rani Velu Nachyar to flee with her daughter and seek refuge in the kingdom of Virupachi, where she raised a powerful army.

Under her leadership, Rani Velu Nachyar's army marched against the British, winning multiple battles and even overcoming the enemy's ammunition depot with the help of a brave warrior named Kuili. In 1780, she emerged victorious once again, regaining her kingdom and ruling effectively for the next decade.

Eventually, she handed over the administration of the kingdom to the Marudu Brothers, Chinnamarudu and Velay Marudu, who served as her minister and commander in chief, respectively. Sadly, the brothers were executed in 1801. Rani Velu Nachyar passed away in December 1796, leaving behind a legacy of courage and leadership.

Her incredible story continues to inspire, and in 2008, the government of India honored Rani Velu Nachyar's memory with a postal stamp. Join us in this episode as we explore the life and achievements of this remarkable warrior queen.

In this episode from Devgatha Hindi podcast, we dive into the fascinating stories of Lord Shiva's eleven forms of Rudra avatars. These avatars embody the intense and fierce nature of Lord Shiva and hold significant importance in Hindu mythology.

We explore the various Rudra avatars, starting with Rudra himself, and learn about their distinct names and characteristics. The eleven avatars include Kapali, Pingal, Bhim, Viru, Paksha, Vilohit, Shastra, Nirbudna, Shambhu, Chand, and Bhav.

We also discuss the significance and symbolism behind each avatar and how they are depicted in different texts and scriptures. In the Ramayana, for example, Aditi and Vasu are associated with the Gyara Rudra avatars, while in Vamanpuran, Kashyap Rishi and Aditi are mentioned as Rudrakesh parents.

We explore the divine feminine energies associated with the Rudra avatars, such as Ambika, Isla, Iravati, and Gay, who manifest as animals like cows and birds. We also discover their roles in the creation and preservation of the universe, such as Surbhi, who plays a part in Lord Brahma's existence.
