FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today’s film is The Old Ways (2020), a deeply creepy, unexpectedly emotional descent into folklore, possession, and unresolved trauma—all set in a cabin that feels like it came pre-haunted. It’s part exorcism, part identity crisis, and part “maybe grandma was right about everything.” With guts, goats, and gorgeous supernatural vibes, this is the kind of horror that drags you in with scares, then sucker punches you with feelings. If Evil Dead grew up, went to therapy, and got really into ancestral healing, it might look something like this.

  • DD1 - Mondo Film Deep Dive
    2025/06/12

IT'S TIME FOR THE LONG AWAITED SEASON ONE DEEP DIVE SPECIAL!!!

Today’s episode is a deep dive into the strange, controversial, and often misunderstood world of Mondo films, a genre that blurs the lines between documentary, exploitation, shock and spectacle. From the groundbreaking Mondo Cane to the more extreme and ethically murky entries that followed, we explore how these films capitalized on curiosity, fear, and voyeurism, often under the guise of cultural exploration. We’ll look at their origins, their evolution across decades and continents, and the legacy they left on both exploitation cinema and documentary filmmaking. Whether viewed as provocative art or shameless sensationalism, Mondo films changed the way audiences thought about “reality” on screen.

Some of the films discussed: The Execution Of Mary Stuart (Queen of Scotts), In The Land Of The Headhunters, Nanook Of The North, Gow The Head Hunter, Africa Speaks, Goona Goona, Naked Africa, Mondo Cane, Women Of The World, African Addio, Shocking Asia, Faces Of Death, Death Scenes, Traces Of Death, Faces Of Gore, Death File, Banned In America, Banned From Television, Girls Gone Wild, Bumfights, Criminals Gone Wild, Black Metal Veins, Orozco The Embalmer, Junk Films, Faces Of Dying, Mondo Shock, Occult Holocaust, and more...

    2025/06/11

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today’s film is Frewaka (2024), a stylish, surreal blend of grief, folklore, and unapologetic chaos that begins with a wedding and somehow ends with you feeling like you just woke up from a very intense dream. It’s part ritual, part fever dream, and part “did that just happen?” With visuals that hypnotize, emotions that hit harder than expected, and a tone that somehow balances elegance, weirdness, and power in equal measure. If Beyoncé directed Midsommar after watching a bunch of performance art in the woods, it might look something like this.

    2025/06/09

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today’s film is Brightwood (2022). This cautionary tale about arguing before breakfast is a delightful reminder that nothing says toxic relationship like getting stuck on a never-ending nature trail with someone you barely toleratein a hell dimension powered entirely by mutual resentment and poor life choices. It’s a morning jog gone horribly, metaphysically wrong featuring bad communication, worse vibes, and the slow, creeping realization that the real horror was the marriage all along. It's part psychological horror, part relationship autopsy, and 100% proof that exercise is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

  • 118 - Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964)
    2025/06/06

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today’s film is Two Thousand Maniacs! from 1964, a cheerful little nightmare in which Southern hospitality goes completely off the rails. A group of travelers takes a wrong turn and ends up at a centennial celebration where personal boundaries are few and the barbecue just feels a little off. Basically, the lesson here is if you find yourself in a Southern-fried fever dream full of banjos, questionable pageantry, and a parade just for you, it's highly advisable to just leave. It’s folksy, feral, and full of that good old-fashioned “maybe don’t trust roadside festivals” energy. Come for the confederate cosplay, stay because you’re not allowed to leave.

  • 117 - Tremors (1990)
    2025/06/04

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today’s film is Tremors, a monster movie that proves you don’t need Wi-Fi, or a PhD to save the world, just a good pair of boots, a decent shovel, and Kevin Bacon. It's a tale of two handymen who just want to leave town but end up fighting giant underground worms that hunt anything that moves. It's like Jaws, if the shark lived in dirt and hated small town infrastructure.

  • 116 - Caveat (2020)
    2025/06/02

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today's film, Caveat is what happens when you say “yes” to a job without reading the fine print, and suddenly you’re trapped in a haunted house wearing a leather harness like a sad Victorian dog. It’s got isolation, creepy dolls, and the constant looming threat of "Why am I here?" energy. Imagine Home Alone if Kevin was replaced by a ghost girl with boundary issues and the Wet Bandits were too emotionally damaged to leave. It's slow, weird, and deeply unsettling but in a “how did I get here and why is there a hairless rabbit beating a drum in the basement” kind of way.

  • 115 - Absurd (1981)
    2025/05/30

FILM RANKINGS UPDATED AFTER EVERY EPISODE!!!

Today, we dive into Absurd (1981), the only slasher film bold enough to feature Church-sanctioned scientific experiments gone wrong where the result is an unkillable man who is very confused about doors and jogs like your uncle chasing the ice cream truck while wearing ski boots. Here we have a priest who’s either a neurosurgeon or just really confident, one of the most disrespectful intestine scenes in cinematic history (like, sir, please put those back where you found them), and a strong warning about the dangers of open oven doors and unattended pickaxes. It’s gory, it's weird, and it makes you wonder if anyone involved had ever actually seen a hospital. Also: sausages. So many sausages.
