Welcome to our pilot episode of Overcoming Adversity.

This podcast introduces you to the format of the show, whilst providing you with a mini clip. A short telling you about a moment of adversity.

My name is Scott Whitney. I am the host of this podcast and up until 2020 I was considered non disabled. Pain and incontinence caused me to visit my doctor who rushed me to A&E.

In a short spell I lost the ability to walk, was admitted to hospital with Sepsis, temporarily lost the ability to swallow solid food, had a temporary catheter fitted and began having spasms and twitches.

A lot more would be diagnosed over the coming months and years. I was diagnosed with FND and am a full time powered wheelchair user.

In 2023, I was made homeless and put in to temporary accommodation.

In this short, I tell you about one night in a Manchester hotel, where things didn't go to plan.

Our first episode will be launched on February 15th 2024 as I look for moments of adversity that others face. Some people may be disabled, business troubles, mental health concerns or anything.
